Secure a nursing position that will challenge me and utilize my clinical,

organizational, and social skills. I am currently looking for a change from

the ER. I am interested in either home care, case management, or a doctor's

office. Any change from the ER setting.

Qualifications

Work History:

July 2005- Current: Hospital Emergency Department RN

Responsible for patient care in the emergency department. Provide

care to all age groups from pediatric patients to elderly patients.

Responsible for all aspects of care, including starting IV lines, blood

draws, EKGs, etc. Provide care to patients needing psychiatric care.

Provide care to patients brought in by police for emergency petitions for

psychiatric conditions. Responsible for patient triage Responsible for

prioritizing patient care. Provide emotional support to patients, as well

as care for their physical illnesses/injuries. Responsible for patient

education.

Able to work independently and as part of a team. Utilize well

developed organizational and assessment skills. Utilize computer skills.

May 2003- Current (PRN): Admission/OR/PACU Registered Nurse for Surgery

Center

Responsible for admitting patients into the surgery center for their

procedure. Establishing IV access, taking vital signs, and educating

patients on their procedure. Responsible for monitoring patients during

their procedure and assisting the doctor with procedures. Monitoring

patients in PACU after their procedures, educating patients on their

discharge information. Responsible for follow up phone calls to patients

after they are discharged from surgery center. Responsible for answering

triage calls and patient education over the phone.

Preparedness/Bioterrorism Registered Nurse for Howard County

Responsible for developing and maintaining the Emergency

Preparedness/Bioterrorism Plan for Howard County. Worked individually on

projects and worked as a team member as well.

Worked with a team including the County Executive, Police Chief,

Fire/Rescue Chief, and many other participants in developing emergency

preparedness plans for the county. Worked with teams to develop and

participate in emergency preparedness/bioterrorism drills to test plans

that were developed.

Participated in drills held by different counties in the state of

Maryland. Participated in many seminars to become more familiar with

emergency preparedness and bioterrorism information. Helped to develop and

maintain relationships with community organizations and the health

department.

Evaluated other health departments on their emergency preparedness

plans. Educated both the health department employees, as well as outside

organizations on emergency preparedness plans. Educated citizens of the

county on emergency preparedness plans. Developed resource

binders/documents for health department employees, police, and fire

department organizations to be used in times of emergency.

Responsible for maintaining the county's Strategic National Stockpile

Plan.

The short duration of this job was due to scheduling conflicts only.

The job was vacated on very good terms with the department. In the short

amount of time that I held this position, I accomplished a large amount of

work and learned a great deal by attending seminars, drills, etc.

May 2001- February 2005: Harbor Hospital Emergency Department RN

Responsible for IV access, medication administration, CPR, EKGs, etc.

Provided care for patients of all ages, from newborn to elderly. Provided
