Leidos - Reston, VA. May 2000 - November 2013
Contributed as a system integrator providing systems engineering and
integration support for various applications and operating environments
supporting U.S. DoD customers.
SENIOR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR: Oct 2010 - Nov 2013
Supported the DoD Military Intelligence user community by providing
systems administration, integration and maintenance support for the
Planning Tool for Resource Integration, Synchronization, and Management

Key accomplishment:
Given a $750K budget to upgrade our computer server landscape and site's
unclassified and classified computer lab's infrastructure. I led the
SysAdmin Team in successfully implementing the purchase of new Oracle Sun
servers and UPS based on recommendations made to our customer. Using the
power and cooling requirements from the new servers, I analyzed our
site's electrical and cooling grid and worked with our site's
electricians and HVAC technicians to facilitate an upgrade of those
resources. Working with our site's Network Engineers, we hired outside
contractors to install new patch panels, run network cables, and connect
to the communications room. Finally, the SysAdmin Team installed the OS
and zone file systems on the new servers, configured the dev and test
environments, migrated system and user accounts and applications and
software from the old servers. Done within a 7-month period and completed
$11K under budget. My regular duties included:
. Modifying C-shell install scripts for each new application update
. Testing the install scripts and configuring the application and
integrating new versions of PRISM with JBOSS and Oracle and working
with the DBA and Testing Teams to ensure compatibility and usability
. Maintaining system security accreditation in accordance with DoD
standards
. Updating the Install and System Administrators manuals for each new
application update
. System performance tuning
. Installing Solaris OS and ZFS, system wide software and allocating
mass storage space
. Administrating and maintaining Windows, Solaris, and Linux OS servers
and clients in our site's SCIF
. Performing server maintenance such as patching, updates/upgrades,
backups, restores
. Supporting scheduled and troubleshoot/resolved unscheduled outages
. Installing Linux patches and hot fixes and maintained server security
compliance
. Making recommendations to purchase hardware and software
. Maintaining documentation of hardware and software configuration
. Part of a team that traveled annually to DoD sites around the world to
perform system/application upgrades and provide on-site support.
