WORK EXPERIENCE:
March 2010 to present: Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner at Rhode Island
Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center
• Specialize in caring for patients with breast cancer throughout the cancer care
continuum.
• Initiated the development of the Breast Cancer Survivorship program at Rhode
Island Hospital. Meet with breast cancer survivors weekly and assess the
patient’s physical and psychosocial well-being after cancer treatment. Submit
referrals to disciplines appropriately.
• Care for hematology/oncology patients in the infusion center and manage infusion
reactions appropriately. Act as a resource and provider for the infusion nurse
staff.
• Provide comprehensive care to oncology patients by helping patients manage side
effects of cancer treatment. Collaborate with health care professionals in order to
provide optimal care. Assist patients with pain management and prescribe
narcotics and pain medications appropriately.
• Refer and collaborate with palliative/hospice home care agencies to ensure
patient’s needs are met throughout the care continuum.
• Provide care to patients in routine follow-up visits as well as urgent sick visits.
Analyze symptoms, order lab work and scans, diagnosis, and treat patients
independently and consult with other providers and disciplines as needed.
• Preceptor for Nurse Practitioner students.

• Performed health risk assessments to the high risk geriatric population
in the home setting, skilled nursing facilities, and nursing homes.
• Initiated referrals to case management and ancillary disciplines accordingly.

• Cared for patients with IV access devices such as PICC lines, midlines, and
portacaths in the home setting.
• Administered home TPN, IV antibiotics, and chemotherapy and hydration.
• Provided in home hospice and palliative care. Collaborated with physicians,
CNAs, physical therapists, and social workers to ensure patient’s needs were met
comprehensively. Referred patients to community resources as needed.
