• Analyze various avenues on how to improve the productivity, quality, service, and cost

performance of various processes of the United States Postal Service while working

towards eliminating inefficient use of time, cost, materials, energy, and other

commodities. Use skills such as, time management, mechanical aptitude, communication

and analytic problem solving to make postal operations better.

o Establish a foundation for standardization. Support integrated operating plan

programs, scheduling and staffing. Collect data for service, cost and productivity

using software such as run plan generator (RPG) and service performance

diagnostics (SPD). RPG allows development of mail processing equipment

operating schedules. Creating such schedules in advance will allow management

to highlight areas where changes can be made to increase efficiency. RPG also

allows management to make proactive decisions on staffing, equipment utilization

and maintenance. SPD gives the ability to view failed mailpieces for full service

commercial mail and to facilitate a root cause diagnostics. This system uses an

Intelligent Mail barcode (IMb), this barcode contains all of the data needed to

perform a detailed service analyses.

o Create and maintain mail process flow diagrams. Identify mail flow

improvements within the plant as well as between the plant and other delivery

units. Ensure equipment standardization implementation. Establish Standard

Operating Procedures (SOPS). Carry out operation design - mail flow and layout.

Provide leadership in establishing continuous improvement principles in everyday

business processes.

• Voith provided facilities management to the General Motors Arlington Truck Plant. My

primary responsibility was to generate and maintain Job Element Sheets (JES) for the Paint

Shop. JESs are detailed job descriptions that list all of the necessary steps to safely and

efficiently perform the job. Facilities management operations include how to safely and

efficiently clean paint booths, chemical treatment booths, robots, and ovens for the Cadillac

Escalade, GMC Yukon, and the Chevrolet Tahoe. The processes also entailed how to

securely Lock-out machinery per the General Motors Safety Guidelines and Occupational

Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). In the event of a safety emergency, I relocated to

the place of incidence to begin investigating the occurrence. After my surveillance, I was

able to incorporate several safety features for several pieces of machinery (the vertical band

saw and the drill press). I also generated JESs for the area. I determined the functions within

a job or series that were of a repetitive nature and therefore counterproductive to the mission

at hand. I provided guidance and instruction to management as to how to restructure such

job functions to ensure each job function promoted efficiency and productivity. Posted JESs

at the job site as well as in a binder in the supervisors office. All documents are also stored

electronically.

• Generated Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) by assessing multiple operations for potential work

hazards and insured compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration

(OSHA)
