synthetic compounds to support HIV and Neuroscience drug discovery programs.
Performed LC/MS, GC/MS, 1-D and 2-D NMR experiments for organic molecule
structure elucidation and identification.
Applied parallels SPE (solid phase extraction) to purify libraries containing basic
nitrogen atoms.

Fermented Escherichia Coli K-12 bacteria, extracted enzyme from the bacteria, incubated the
crude enzyme extracts with salicylic acid, malonyl-coenzyme A, and other co-factors to form
4-hydroxycoumarin.
Developed HPLC methods to separate the desired enzyme reaction product 4-
hydroxycoumarin from the crude enzyme reaction.
Derivatized 4-hydroxycoumarin with triisopropylsilyl chloride into silyl ether to confirm the
product by GC/MS.
Prepared the C-13 labeled salicylic acid and performed the same enzyme reaction as the non-
labeled compound and HPLC isolation, silyl ether derivatization to further confirm the
results by LC/MS.

Analyzed samples from different customers for structure elucidation and identification using
MS, NMR, UV-vis, FT-IR, classical wet chemistry and quantitation.
