PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
December 2010 – November 2013, Senior Scientist, Research and Development, Pfizer Inc.
Collaborated with colleagues across Pfizer as a member of a cross-functional and highly collaborative
multidisciplinary team to design studies and to provide preclinical in vivo and ex vivo imaging support.
Developed imaging protocols, image analysis algorithms and software tools for biomedical signal and
image processing and analysis.
Designed imaging experiments and conducted laboratory research on multiple platforms.

Guixue Bu
Managed a microscopy laboratory housing an advanced multiphoton microscope. Performed
troubleshooting as needed and routine quality assurance tests.
August 2008 – December 2010, Research Data Analyst, Indiana University School of Medicine
Developed software tools and analyzed DCE-MRI images from clinical trials in collaboration with
radiologists and oncologists.
Developed modules for generating maximum intensity projection (MIP) animations of 3D images in
Image Visualization and Analysis (IVA, custom software developed at Indiana University).
Investigated compartment models and curve fitting algorithms for analyzing 3D/4D dynamic molecular
imaging data (PET and MRI).
Analyzed static and dynamic preclinical PET/CT images from studies including targeted therapies for
plexiform neurofibromas, nanoparticle drug delivery, and new PET tracers.
Performed routine quality control and troubleshooting of clinical (Siemens HR+ PET, Biograph 64
PET/CT) and preclinical (IndyPET III) scanners.
January 2003 – July 2008, Research Assistant, Purdue University
Designed, implemented, and validated hardware & software to support cardiac electrophysiology
research with optical microscopy, electrode array recording, and standard electrocardiogram (ECG).
Researched & developed optical microscopy techniques and signal enhancement algorithms for
quantitative measurement of bioelectrical signals with applications to heart & neuroscience research.
Tested, characterized, and validated novel voltage-sensitive fluorescent probes for heart research.
Developed models of ventricular depolarization and simulated body surface ECG map with realistic
human torso model.
