Cloud Services Systems Engineer

Provided tier 3 operational support for cloud-based (PAAS, IAAS, SAAS) services in a multi-homed active/passive dual datacenter configuration. In my role, I managed IP telephony-based systems, private cloud service email delivery services, created virtual machines (VM’s), maintained VM hosts and delivered overall VMware ESXi implementation and administration in a VMware 6.0 environment, created scripts and daily monitoring of systems.

Created new mail services for JHA clients in the Jack Henry private cloud based service. In this role, I set up new mail policies and content filters for new JHA customers. I established mail encryption policies and settings as appropriate for mail content. Ran message tracking to troubleshoot mail delivered failures. Additionally, I manage host and recipient tables, destination controls and data loss prevention (DLP) policies.

Expert with DNS, DHCP, and DFS, I Created DNS A, CName, MX and SPF records as required in support of Cloud based services.

Systems Engineer

As a Windows System Engineer, I provided Tier 2 operational support, server maintenance, and troubleshooting on both physical and virtual servers. This role was in support of a clustered Exchange 2010 mail organization made up of hub, transport and mailbox servers, a multi-domain Windows 2008R2/2012R2 Active Directory (Functional level 2008 r2) infrastructure and the Mobile Computing Environment (MCE) within the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) network to create and maintain a mission critical, high availability environment.

Received weekly requests from human resources to create new AD user accounts with email addresses, home directories and distribution/security group memberships in bulk. These bulk requests could range from 20 user accounts up to 200 accounts in a single upload using a powershell software utility. Provided second level (Tier 2) operations, maintenance and troubleshooting support to the Transportation Security Administration. These actions included remote desktop support to end users (as escalated by our Tier 1 support) for login/access (Common Access Card or CAC card) issues to Active Directory, network resources (file shares), applications and for mobile phone (iPhone) access issues. Additional actions included break fix (and emergency break fix) Requests For Change (RFC’s). Break fix actions might include server reboots, Exchange outages or high mail queue threshold’s, eFax service restarts and connectivity issues related to Good Mobile Server.

Created user and shared mailboxes and distribution lists in an Exchange 2013 environment. Processed List Manager Requests (LMR’s) to add or remove memberships to email boxes and distribution lists.

Knowledgeable of Exchange CAS (client access servers), mailbox, hub, transport and edge servers.

Knowledgeable of Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) with working knowledge of federation trust, SAML tokens and directory replication and authentication between two forest boundaries.

Experienced setting up DirSync (Directory Sync) between forests to replication AD objects.

Volunteered to be the lead Engineer on my team to help coordinate activities related to an Active Directory migration project. The TSA Active Directory domain was the target LDAP directory of a migration effort to move user and resource objects from 4 trusted (legacy) domains, I provided direct hands on support to end users to migrate Active Directory user accounts while simultaneously maintaining access to legacy resources (such as email, file shares and applications.). This knowledge gained was in turn used to train and mentor my peers to support the project.

Ran daily (and hourly) system checks on Active Directory replication, Exchange transport queues, Good mobile services, eFax server availability and others.

Volunteered to develop and update Standard Operation Procedures (or SOP’s). SOP’s were a Word-based documentation vehicle to standardize the way all Engineers perform an action on the network. As a result of this update process, we reduced the errors and omissions caused by the Tier 2 Messaging staff by over 35%.

Acted as Subject Matter Expert on Active Directory as it related to LDAP modifications, directory trusts and migration tools and resource management.

Created new VMWare virtual machines as required.

Systems Engineer

My role at Sagent Partners was the exact same position as CSRA. Sagent is a small business government sub-contractor that had been awarded a partial amount of the ITIP contract with the TSA. Their business model is to provide the necessary background check required for a government employee to obtain said Federal Government Secret Clearance. Once this is done, the onboarding process completes to bring an employee onto the contract. Sagent’s model is retain an employee for 6 months and then based on merit bring the employee over to the primary contractor. This was a six month to hire role.

Nexus Systems is an IT contractor to public schools in Louisiana and Mississippi. As a contract employee to the Webster Parish School system I configured and deployed LAN/WAN switches and routers, installed, maintained, resolved network infrastructure problems. The Willis-Knighton health care system in the largest chain of hospitals in the northern Louisiana area. My role focused on the physical infrastructure of the network, which included Cisco and Nortel LAN switches, routers and servers. As a member of the hardware infrastructure team, I was involved a P to V (physical to virtual) server migration from physical Dell and HP servers to Virtual Machines that where hosted on VMWare version 5.5. Completed Physical-to-Virtual (P2V), Virtual-to-Virtual (V2V) and Virtual-to-Physical (V2P) migration of Windows NT, 2000, 2003, 2008, and 2012.
