Staff PCB Designer; RF- IC Development, Corporate Product Development, Omni Business and Cellular Phone Development Groups; Cellular Digital Base Station Development 1995 - 2018 Served as lead designer/project manager, coordinating with team of PCB designers, as well as electrical and mechanical engineers, to design PCBs for use in cellular handsets, base station modules, integrated circuit test platforms, commercial satellite communications and prototype boards for industry leader within the global telecommunications marketplace. Manage design process from start to completion, producing fabrication notes and drawings, schematic edits and Gerber data validation. Conduct milestone reviews with multiple departments throughout the design process and coordinate data transmission to fabrication houses. Mentor electrical and mechanical engineers new to CAD processes.

DELIVERED RESULTS:

• Designed initial prototype PMIC and MSM chip die testing platforms for use with current CDMA product development.

• Developed initial concept PCB designs for microwave, RF TX/RX circuit boards and motor control boards, as well as subsequent design improvements.

• Created first 1900 MHz digital flip-phone from initial concept design to tradeshow prototype, allowing Qualcomm to beat competitors Nokia, Motorola, Erickson, and Sony to market.

• Developed initial circuit board design for Globalstar satellite cellular handset, strategizing with outside mechanical design firm to bring this premier satellite handset to market.

• Designed satellite-based semi-truck tracking and communication new products, modernizing Qualcomm’s original product line from analog to digital. EASTMAN KODAK CO., San Diego, CA

PCB Designer and PCB Assembler;

Utilizing CAD tools, developed PCB designs in conjunction with electrical and mechanical engineers. Initiated quality control and process improvement discussions with manufacturing department, post-design and assembly. Developed Bill of Materials for PCB assembly, pulled required components and oversaw mechanical production of boards. Physically assembled prototypes and performed initial testing of board designs. DELIVERED RESULTS:

• One of first Kodak designers in San Diego to learn and utilize newly-introduced CAD tool.

• Designed and built breadboard, wire-wrap prototype of first high-speed, digital recording system, allowing Kodak to introduce the first-of-its-kind digital and high-speed product to the existing film-based marketplace.

• Designed and fabricated first test platform for imaging sensors quality testing and characterization. Also created associated PCB design to interface with test fixture.

• Only San Diego Kodak employee to design using CAD software, interface with fabrication houses, physically assemble components onto circuit boards and test product for functionality, literally taking project from initial concept to physical completion. Lab Technician, electrical and mechanical;

Built and tested prototype breadboards, as part of engineer and technician team, for product development of high- speed imaging technology. Interfaced with component suppliers to acquire appropriate components for assembly.
