Survey based project on Women in IT

A project consists a team of four members carried a project on “Women in IT” with 30 samples to study, how women play an important role in information technology. Questionnaire was based on organization policies benefiting women, working hours, how women can contribute to information technology, returning to career role after IT break and career advancement opportunities. The survey concluded with statistics stating how women can bring about a change in IT and what contributes for successful performance.

INTERNSHIP PROJECTS

Precision Informatic (M) Private Limited

The company provides biometric, cloud and System Integration solutions and IT infrastructure Management services. The trainee was placed under a supervision of Team leader and worked in a software “Moodle”.

Shri Ram Fibers Limited

The company manufactures nylon cord fibres for tires, technical textiles, engineering plastics, chemicals and packaging films. The trainee was placed under Admin and Recruitment department.

RESEARCH

Topic: “A study on Effectiveness of disciplinary procedures among employees in L&T constructions, Manapakkam, Chennai”.

The purpose of this research was to critically explore the effect of disciplinary procedures on employee motivation and performance at Larsen & Toubro construction. The methodology in terms of data collection involved mainly the use of questionnaires. A total number of 50 questionnaires was received from respondents. These responses were analyzed using SPSS tool. The study revealed that employees have knowledge of disciplinary procedures and how they can transform employees positively to fit into the working environment. Other findings indicated that the impact of disciplinary procedures on motivation and performance is positive.

FIELD WORK

Nesakkaram Seeds Organization

It is a child-care organization working for and with the street children for over eighteen years. The trainee was placed in Triplicane slum. The trainee conducted community organization on “Biodegradable and Non-Biodegradable”.

Pavithra Hospital:

The hospital particularly covers the entire population of North Chennai, by providing its sincere services to the public in all fields. The trainee was placed in Admin Department and learnt the HR practices in the organization.

Larsen and Toubro Constructions:

L&T Construction, India's largest construction organization and ranked among the world's top 30 contractors, has been over the past seven decades transforming cityscapes and landscapes with structures of immense size and grandeur. The company's capabilities span the entire gamut of construction - civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineering - and its services extend to all core sector industries and infrastructure projects. The trainee was placed in Training and Development department and learnt the methods and functions carried in the organization.

CPCL (Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited)

Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited(CPCL) formerly known as Madras Refineries Limited(MFL) was formed on joint venture in 1965 between government of India (GOI),AMOCO and National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).Late AMOCO disinvested in the favor of GOI and the shareholding percentage was revised .It has two refineries -Manali at Chennai and Nagapattinam at Cauvery Basin (CBR).The trainee was placed under Personnel department(Welfare) and learnt the various statutory and non-statutory benefits which are provided to the workmen.
