Duties and Responsibilities

Compounding and dispensing medications as per Physician prescription.

Prescription auditing like right drug, right dose, right route, right strength, right frequency of medicine to the right patient.

Checks the medicines physically for batch number, expiry, quantity with the system and prescription.

Perform pharmaceutical counseling regarding proper use of medication, mode of action, ADR, allergies, duration of use, drug-food interaction and storage.

Pasting caution sticker for high alert medications, high risk medication and maintain separate cupboard for highly explosive and highly flammable drugs.

Cold chain processes followed for the cold storage drug at the time of dispensing.

Special attention given while handling LASA / High alert medicines.

Assist stock management by taking stock reports and organize medications stocking accordingly to first in first out rule.

Taking the stock of short -expiry medicines before three months from the date expiry once in a month and maintain separate rack for near expiry medicines.

Requesting medicine from the main store as per requirement from pharmacy.

Receiving medicine from the main store and checking all as per the batch and expiry, keeping all medicines in the sub store as per hospital policies, keeping and updating inventory and issuing of medicines as per the request from the pharmacy.

Monthly/daily, check the Emergency cart/Floor stock.
