INSTRUCTIONAL SYSTEMS DESIGNER, STraCon Group, Jacksonville, FL

The Army Virtual Learning Environment (AVLE) contract at StraCon Group in Jacksonville includes a mixture of synchronous and asynchronous digital learning products such as Instructional Video, Interactive Multimedia (IMI), and Digital Training Enablers (DTE) with imbedded instructional game elements. Lead the development of the Instructional videos by designing strategies and techniques to promote learner engagement and retention. Wrote the video plan in the IMDP, lead development of scripts and storyboards and provided guidance to the development team. In addition, was instrumental in designing DTE game characteristics and meeting deadlines while improving storyboard writing techniques for IMI and DTE development.

SUMMER, 2018

INTERNSHIP, US Army War College, Carlisle, PA

Worked in the simulation’s division of CSL (Center for Strategic Leadership) creating a software design to link multiple matrix games together. These are strategy games used for argument-based discussions. I also play-tested games for Harrisburg University and Dept of Defense for Hawaii while at the US Army War College. Participated in the design phase of a future game for SouthCom.

Managed a group of small family businesses in the town of Wabasha, MN. I put my career of online courseware development on hold to support a family business as the CEO went through many years of treatment at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. The CEO is now back full time and I went to graduate school to return to my career of instructional technology.

GS-1750-11 INSTRUCTIONAL SYSTEMS SPECIALIST, US Army War college, PA

Hired to the new Instructional Design Department of Resident Instruction. Assisted in demonstrating capabilities of the department to the instructors and among other projects, developed the Deterrence Role Playing Game for resident student homework interactive assignment. I had to leave due to severe illness of my husband who would only take treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

2000 - 2004

Managed and worked collaboratively on several government contracts, most notably 2 contracts on site at the US Amy War College. Instrumental in developing their multimedia lab and development processes in the Department of Distance Education. Created many synchronous learning objects and asynchronous lessons for Instructors.

Temporary position teaching a workshop/course in photoshop to employees of various companies in Jacksonville, FL.

Instrumental in building a startup production business from the ground up. Originally hired as Project Manager for medical reference products. After 3 months was asked to manage the military projects as well. Acted as backup in all aspects of development (project management, instructional design, Q&A, programming, graphics). Established departmental policies, hiring and supervising. Managed 12 production employees.

New title was Multimedia Director. The first year had 2 million in projects and 2nd year over 4 million.
