I am an experienced, goal-oriented UX researcher. I lead projects to investigate user experience of online environments, physical spaces, and services. I design effective UX studies, connect with users, analyze data, and provide actionable recommendations.

User Experience (UX) Researcher

Penn State University Libraries

• Lead and develop UX studies to gauge user needs and preferences, identify gaps for improvements, and provide recommendations for the library’s online and physical spaces.

• Collaborate with IT in assessing web interface, applications, and systems by conducting UX studies and analyzing web analytics.

• Completed more than 30 UX projects, recruited 200+ participants, with studies ranging from 10-min usability testing to hour-long interviews.

• Present UX studies regularly at national conferences.

2010--2015

Web Designer & Metadata Strategist

University of New Mexico Libraries

• Led Web Implementation Team—communicated with stakeholders in building information architecture and web content, investigated web applications, set up usability testing, designed interface, and monitored web analytics.

• Collaborated with Campus IT to design a campus map application, including exploring functions of Google Search products and Google Maps, participating in design and implementation, analyzing search logs, and providing solutions for better user experience.

• Received the institution’s Project Implementation Award.

2006--2010

Webmaster, Illinois Harvest Portal

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Library

• Designed and built the portal for searching and browsing digital collections using HTML, CSS, ASP/VBScript, and SQL.

• Automated processes to create metadata packages and web pages for digitized items using VBScript, MARCXML and XSLT, including batching uploading images and metadata to Flickr.

• Investigated open-source applications for the interactive user interface.

• Established workflows for digitization projects and trained responsible units.
