RECENT TRANSFERABLE EXPERIENCE
COBOL Developer/Business Consultant - current (2019)
As a business consultant, I have identified problems that are encountered with Administration of child care centers as it relates to State requirements pertaining to child and employee records. Specialists often perform unannounced inspections of centers to assure compliance. Administrators, inundated with day-to-day operations, are expected to keep up with an over-abundance of paperwork at all times. As a Business Consultant I have identified a way to combat this problem: through the use of a program that will keep their records updated at all times.
I have chosen to use the COBOL programming language simply because that’s my area of expertise. Currently I have created something that the Administrators will love. Employee and child data is placed into sequential files for now. Those files are displayed on the screen to show the Administrators which files and specific forms need updating and the required dates. This will help them to stay on top of the documentation for each employee and child. I am using an Agile approach to do this. My team will consist of myself and center personnel. With this approach I simply create a piece of the software that they can see and use immediately and suggest other desired changes while I continue to create the rest of the process that will include add, change, and deletion of file records and whatever else the customer feels would be helpful. My current client is Lullaby Infant Club, LLC., Cleveland, Ohio.
