Petroquiriquire – Mene Grande and Barua Motatan (Joint Venture Between Repsol and PDVSA 2008 – October 2017

Operator of Venezuela’s Menegrande field, prominent oil & gas producer generating 24,900 barrels of crude and 34 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

Joint Venture Drilling & Completions and Workover Superintendent & Lead & Project Engineer Joint Venture Drilling & Completions and Workover Superintendent & Lead & Project Engineer (2012 – 2017)

Transitioned into a more senior engineering position with Petroquiriquire, working on a joint venture between Repsol YPF and PDVSA. Prepared all drilling and completion programs in liaison with reservoir engineers, well service and relevant service contractors. Collaborated closely with partner contractors on well planning and engineering and performed regular quality checks on all reporting produced and received from the drilling rig(s).). Manage all day-to-day drilling, completion and workover operations ensuring teams are operating safely and efficiently, compliant with all applicable government regulations. Report daily to the Technical and General Managers, maintain accurate cost controls, and supervise environmental program procedures. A critical component of this position entailed the certification that all departments’ input to the well file was checked thoroughly and successfully registered with the petroleum engineering department.

Led the field side operations in 40 wells which included drilling, cementing, gravel packing, reporting and cost control.

Successfully planned and executed a Well Stimulation & Workover (2016-2017) that contributed to 8,000 BPD of extra reserves for the year.

Lead and mentor a team of 20 plus colleagues which include Senior and Junior Field Engineers as well as middle-management operators.

Registered savings of US$3M plus by lowering production costs via time and cost intervention optimization.

Workover Site Engineer (2011 – 2012)

Shifted to Workover Engineer for one year, tasked with managing 30 wells in the Barua Motatan and Mene Grande oilfield in shallow unconsolidated steam and water flood formations. Performed a range of heavy-duty workover operations which included but not limited to drill-out cement and old bridge plugs/packers, conducting isolation perforations, cased hole logging, running in hole pumps, setting bridge plugs/packers, a range of cementing jobs, completion and re-completion, changing THS and fishing jobs.

Joint Venture Drill Site Manager And Workover Site Engineer (2008 – 2011)

Contracted by Petroquiriquire, transitioned into an operations engineer positions working with a variety of drilling methods in the Menegrande field. Over a three-year tenure collaborated and spearheaded drilling operations of 24 new Onshore Vertical Wells (3,000 – 4,000 feet) in shallow unconsolidated steam and water flood formations, most of which were drilled conventionally (vertically from the surface to the core). Took on more complex operations using Directional Drilling in areas which required increased attention to potential, deleterious environmental impacts.

Charged with modeling of drilling hydraulics for Drill String Selection, Running Casing/Liner Tallies, Cementing & Displacement, Test Volume Calculations and Design Drilling Fluids.

Worked on 09 Side Track Wells (re- entry wells from Whipstock and Open Hole Side Track) using MWD – LWD to perform the well.
