Professional Experience

My experience includes hands on and management in Microsoft environments in the areas of corporate support including network infrastructure (LAN/WAN/SAN virtualization), Service/Help desk tiers one, two and three customer support. I have managed teams providing application and corporate systems administration, web and cloud service design and support including virtual private, hosted and hybrid environments. My experience includes vendor relations and vendor contract management, technology budget creation and management, procurement, asset management and business planning across a wide spectrum of Information Technology areas covering multiple nationwide locations for private sector and government contractor organizations.

May 2018 - Current

Manager of IT – Charles E. Smith Life Communities

Management of 4 IT personnel in support of IT operations for the Charles E. Smith Campus in Rockville, MD. Supporting a hybrid premises and hosted environment with 1100 healthcare customers running MS Server and Windows OS platforms across 7 buildings of the healthcare facility. Current projects include migration of the HRIS, CRM and training systems to hosted platforms, Office 365 migration and financial planning, budgeting and upgrades to the campus infrastructure through bandwidth, switch, firewall, and SAN High Availability implementations. Management of the Service Desk averaging 500 customer requests a month utilizing ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus.

2017 - 2018

Client Technology Manager – designDATA

Management of 6 clients in the Managed Service Provider model support of their IT environments. Services include migrating to designDATA cloud and data center services. Hardware as a Service standards in the workstation, infrastructure and OS environments. Infrastructure as a Service including Voice over IP telephony systems and Implementation of 24/7 Call Center support.

2016-2017

Service Desk Supervisor – Loudoun Water

As Service Desk Supervisor, I managed a team technicians providing support for 260 + users across a three-building campus in support of a Win 7 (migrating to WIN 10) environment with Office 2013 and Server 2012. Our team supports all laptop and endpoint assets, printing services, mobile (Smartphone and Tablet) and COTS and legacy Water Authority applications.

2012 – 2013

IT Manager – Arlington Community Federal Credit Union

As the IT Manager of the Credit Union infrastructure, planning and support responsibilities existed of oversite and support of three branches, the main ACFCU Customer Call Center, corporate back office organizations (HR, Training, Finance, Operations and Executive management personnel). Credit Union IT consisted of three direct technical employees in management and support of multiple external vendors, external service provider management, core transaction systems, credit and lending systems, credit union support applications, telephony (infrastructure and mobile), and network security and management systems. The IT Manager was a member of the business planning, budget planning and disaster recovery teams, including projects involving upgrades to current technology (Credit card processing systems and call recording systems). Systems supported include (Symitar Episys, PSCU Credit processing systems, Datacard Instant Issuance systems, SonicWall Firewall, Secure Remote Access and SPAM email filter, Microsoft Server and Client OS, Exchange and Office suite, Intertel VOIP and Sprint mobile services.)

2003 - 2012

IT Manager / Director of IT – Wyle Information Systems (Formerly RS Information Systems)

As IT Manager / Director of IT responsibilities include management of the Wyle Information Systems internal information technology team of 8 to 12 technical professionals supporting a MS Windows /SQL/Oracle environment consisting of 300+ systems users using 50+ client server, virtual (VMware) and web based systems connected by a 7-location nationwide VPN. This position reporting responsibilities were matrixed to the Wyle Chief Information Officer and the local Information Systems Group President.

Wyle IT provided direction and support for the corporate and operation areas of network and telephony infrastructures including Ethernet and fiber ISP connectivity, VOIP call management systems, web and database support, desktop customer support, technical asset management, executive staff support, Business Development/ proposal development, and Mobile device, wireless connectivity.

During this period, utilizing ITIL and ITSM practices a formal Change Management process was implemented. A formal service desk management system was built using BCM Footprints automating multiple internal organization service processes including HR onboarding, IT help desk, Security issue tracking, Finance requests and Facilities work orders.

Information Technology was an important scope in obtaining the ISO 9000 certification for RSIS then Wyle.

1990 – 2003

Information Technology support / IT Manager – MCIWorldCom / WorldCom

The IT Manager responsibilities included regional Infrastructure network / server, desktop and printing support in MS Windows and Novell environments for multiple facility locations in the Washington DC metro area. As a member of the MCI WorldCom Service Direct shared services organization I provided support, planning and management to IT staffs as large as twenty employees in the delivery of IT services to multi-faceted internal customer groups of 3000 users. During this12 year period I assisted in four organizational, customer and systems migrations due to corporate acquisitions.

1983 – 1988 United States Navy

I completed a 5-year active duty enlistment assigned to shipboard Naval Intelligence systems and shore based Fleet Combat Systems Support Operations Center San Diego, California.

Eligible for a Government clearance – DOD Secret clearance held from 1983 - 1988
