Supervisory Information Technology Specialist (This is a federal position)
Duties:
Serve as Information Technology (IT) Director / Chief Information Officer (CIO) with the Department of Justice, within the Civil Rights Division, Office of Information Technology (OIT).
The OIT staff include three Supervisory IT Specialist, 10 IT Specialists; supplemented by 20 contractors with various skills and expertise, allocated across four operational units; Application Development; Information System; Cybersecurity; and Collaboration and Web Services.
First level supervisor over subordinate supervisors; providing immediate direction, guidance, control, and evaluation of work assignments and performance.
Execute the overall administration of personnel management functions for assigned employees and subordinates.
Provide vision, and leadership in setting strategies, goals, objectives and training for managing the technology and cybersecurity mandates of the Division.
Serve as the principal advisor to the Executive Officer on IT investment matters.
Coordinate the financial efforts of the Division’s IT costs for customer services provided through Working Capital Funds (WCF) Reimbursable Agreements.
Carry out Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and communicate support of those policies to subordinates.
Chairman of the Civil Rights Division’s longstanding Technology Advisory Committee (TAC); which provide recommendations and advice to the Division’s leadership, and OIT staff regarding near and longer-term IT strategies, existing and proposed systems and initiatives, policies and operational procedures, software and hardware acquisition, and training needs, experiences, and preferences of Division staff.
Member of the Department’s Chief Information Officers Council (CIO Council), which serves as the principle internal Department forum for addressing IT-related strategies, IT investment and management priorities, and IT policy and guidance.
Member of the Department’s Working Capital Fund Customer Advisory Board and Service Working Group, which reviews the metrics used to assess charges for IT services that appear on Division’s reimbursement agreements and provide input to the annual operating plan.
Member of the Data Center Transformation Initiative (DCTI) Working Group with the plan to consolidate all DOJ data centers down to three Core Enterprise Facilities (CEFs).
Distinctive Achievements:
In support of the OMB mandated FDCCI strategy to achieve efficiency through data center consolidation and shared services,
oSuccessfully moved of the Division’s primary data center operations from Constitution Ave NW, Washington, DC and into the DEA Sterling, VA Data Center (CEF-DC).
oSuccessfully co-located the Division’s disaster recovery data center equipment and services located in Rockville, MD into the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division Data Center (CEF-East) in Clarksburg, WV.
Successfully migrated two thousand plus email accounts from the Division’s On-Premise Microsoft Exchange email server to the Microsoft Government Community Cloud Office 365 (O365) Multi-Tenant services.
Implemented VMware Horizon View; which provides desktop virtualization and facilitates rapid deployment of security patches and application updates.
