Work History

Tactical Oilfield Products Engineer – Operations and Sales

Houston, TX November, 2015 – August, 2018

Responsible for generating and maintaining sales contacts for small specialty mud product company. I was also responsible for supporting our field sales & service men on operations and supervising critical operations on location. Additionally, I assisted in the training of a new Sales Engineer. My client’s operations were in the GOM, Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Denver, North Dakota, Wyoming, and Utah.

Petro Harvester Manager – Drilling Operations and Engineering

Houston, TX February, 2014 – March, 2015

I was responsible for managing all phases of the drilling operations in two of the three Divisions of Petro Harvester; Southeastern, onshore Mississippi and Gulf Coast, South Louisiana. We drilled 10 wells in both divisions in 2014; 80% of those wells came in on time and under budget. In Louisiana, on average, well cost was reduced by 48%. In Mississippi, all wells were under budget. Duties include well planning, budgeting, engineering, supervising all rig operations, contract negotiations, and regulatory documentation. I was responsible for supervising the work of a senior drilling superintendent/engineer.

AGR FJ Brown, Inc. Senior Drilling Superintendent / Engineer

Houston, TX June, 2009 – February, 2014

After the demise of the Turnkey Group, I remained at AGR FJ Brown, Inc. This division provides consulting and project management services. I initially provided engineering services for several operators, primarily our project management contract with McMoRan’s deep shelf gas drilling program, including Blackbeard & Davy Jones.

In April, 2010, I was contracted by EOG Resources to rotate 28/28 in Chengdu, China as a Drilling Superintendent for their horizontal resource play in Sichuan Province northeast of Chengdu. We drilled three and completed five wells while I was there. The average well depth was 7250m and the average lateral was 3800m. The program ended in October, 2010. I supervised an EOG drilling team of eight men and provided relief duty as Drilling Supervisor on the rig during crew change.

After China, I was sent to Corpus Christi for EOG for the planning of a workover needed to save an offshore lease.

In January, 2011, I was sent to rotate 21/21 in Trinidad & Tobago as a Drilling Superintendent for EOG’s platform rig drilling program off the East Coast of Trinidad. Seven wells were drilled and completed. The wells were relatively shallow, high angle wells. The last well drilled was in excess of 85 degrees and over 10,000’ of displacement. I remained rotating in Trinidad as a Drilling Engineer for the planning and drilling of the next project, a jack-up program over another platform. Four wells were drilled and completed. During the completion mode, I acted as both Superintendent and Engineer. After the rig was released, I helped plan the next drilling program, which started in June, 2014, after I left.

AGR Turnkey Drilling, Inc. Engineering Manager

Houston, TX May, 2009 – June, 2009

I came to work at AGR Turnkey Drilling, Inc. in May, 2009 to oversee a Drilling Engineering group of five. The group prepared detailed bids for turnkey drilling prospects for various operators, performed all drilling engineering duties, and supported the daily operation of the turnkey wells drilled. Duties included first line personnel supervision, rig supervision, well planning, vendor relations, and client relations. Soon after I joined the company, AGR decided to shelve the turnkey group.

Sterling Drilling, Inc. President / Drilling Engineer / Superintendent

Houston, TX April, 2005 – May, 2009

I was a Consulting Drilling Engineer / Superintendent for El Paso Production after forming my own company in May, 2005, and for over 9 years including the time I was still employed by Triton. I was responsible for drilling engineering and first line rig operations supervision on over 40 wells in the Gulf of Mexico and onshore South Louisiana. Additional duties included well design, planning, cost estimating, cost control, training of new engineers. I was an integral part of El Paso’s leading effort in the GOM with innovative technologies such as Expandable Casing & Casing / Liner Drilling.

Triton Engineering Drilling Engineering Manager /Superintendent / Engineer

Houston, TX May, 1991 – April, 2005

I directly participated in the cost estimating, planning, bidding, and/or drilling of over 1000 wells in the Gulf of Mexico, Bay of Campeche, South Louisiana, East Texas, & South Texas. I started as a Drilling Engineer in the Turnkey Bid Group, then was a Drilling Engineer in the Operations Group, was promoted to Engineering Manager over the Bid Group, and then I was moved over as the Engineering Manager over the Operations Engineering group. During my time as an Operations Drilling Engineer, I was the Rig Engineer for a series of turnkey wells Triton drilled for Pemex in the Bay of Campeche as well as the Operations Drilling Engineer for several other Pemex Turnkey wells. The last 6 years of my time at Triton was spent as a Consulting Drilling Engineer / Superintendent for EEX, Burlington, & El Paso. Duties included cost estimating, cost control, planning, well design, operations support, rig supervision, training, engineering staff supervision, risk management, client relations, & recruiting.

Santa Fe Minerals, Inc. Drilling Engineer & Drilling / Production Engr Tech

Dallas, TX March, 1987 – May, 1991

I started as an Engineering Tech for a Drilling Engineer and a Production Engineer in the Southern Region; which included the Gulf of Mexico, South Louisiana, & South Texas. After 8 months, I was promoted to Drilling Engineer, considered a very short transition. Responsibilities included drilling engineering and operations support for shelf and deepwater wells in the GOM and land & barge wells in South Louisiana & South Texas. Duties included well design, planning, cost estimating, cost control, operations support, and rig supervision.

Conoco Production / Completion Engineer

New Orleans, LA May, 1985 – January, 1987

I worked as a Production Engineer in the Gulf of Mexico. I was responsible for production optimization on 4 platforms in the Grand Isle area and completions on a Ewing Bank platform. Duties included workover & recompletion recommendations, design, & implementation, production vessel design & procurement, gas lift optimization, and the design, implementation, & rig supervision of 4 gravel pack completions on the Ewing Bank 305/306 area.
