PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
KLA-TENCOR, San Jose, CA 1994-2000 and 2004-2017
Senior Optical Engineer_NPI
Developed a visual inspection fixture to inspect the surface quality (Scratch/Dig) of apodizer glass and measure its decentering and angular tilt in an apodizer assembly by using a CCD camera with image capture and processing SW (MB_Ruler_Pro) and documented with a detailed procedure.
Model and tolerance analyze a grating based ellipsometry optical system in Zemax to understand the opto- mechanical sensitivity of each optical component and develop optical alignment tooling to cost effectively manufacture such assembly with consistency.
Developed optical testing technique for the ultrafast diamond turned ellipsoidal mirror used for focusing/collecting a broadband light beam in a spectroscopic ellipsometry optical system and UV enhanced objectives (5X, NA 0.4 & 1X, NA 0.04) used in a dual beam spectrophotometer.
Investigated the thin film thickness variation caused by a small residual birefringence in a quartz based apodizer and developed a LABView based test fixture to characterize the residual birefringence in the apodizer with a detailed procedure to increase its yield to 95%.
Developed a short arc 75W Xe lamp with a key supplier to extend its life time by a factor of 5,
resolve its quality issue by improving the temperature measurement on the electrode
and controlling its aging chamber temperature during the aging process. Also, developed a high brightness Deuterium lamp with an extended life time (doubled life time) with consistency.
Developed a test fixture to characterize the nonlinearity on a CCD chip with detailed procedure to improve the film thickness measurement on wafer in terms of accuracy and precision.
Developed a lens assembly test fixture to characterize objectives with F# between 0.25 and 7.4
on Zygo interferometer (finite conjugate and infinite conjugate) with a detailed procedure.
Awarded two general manager award, 1998 and 2014.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE (continued)
ROCKWELL COLLINS, San Jose, CA 2001-2004
Senior Optical Display Engineer
Performed lens system modelling (Zemax/CodeV), color management, polarization analysis and radiometric analysis on two optical engines for the µLCD based display system.
Resolved various optical engineering issues (such as color balancing, grey level calibration, µLCD response time measurement, wave plate characterization, UHP lamp noise characterization, ANSI contrast characterization, display brightness uniformity characterization, display chromaticity characterization, and display thermal management) in support of optical display engine manufacturing.
PHOENIX LASER SYSTEMS, Fremont, CA 1991-1993
Senior Optical Engineer
Designed a relay lens (F/6.67) system in CodeV which covered field of view 4.5 degrees) to image the cornea of the human eye on a CCD camera system for laser refractive keratorplasty.
LOCKHEED MISSILE AND SPACE, Sunnyvale, CA 1988-1991
Research Specialist, Optics Design/Analysis
Designed a set of broadband lenses in CodeV (which included two null lenses used to characterize the surface figure of parabolic mirror) and performed tolerance analysis of the lens assembly.
Performed analysis to assess the beam quality (Strehl Ratio) of a retroreflected laser beam from various corner cubes taking into consideration the polarization effect.
GTE GOVERNMENT SYSTEMS, Mountain View, CA 1982-1988
Member of Technical Staff, Optical Design/Analysis
Modelled a gimbaled telescope assembly (F/7.23, 5 inches Ritchey Chretien Telescope) and an image optics assembly in CodeV.
Developed and built a laser diode array pumped KTP frequency doubled NdYAG miniture solid state laser. This effort was awarded a GTE Technical Excellence Award in 1987.
