Application developer, NFN Labs, India (Dec 2014 – Aug 2017)

Was part of the project team that redesigned online portal of United India Insurance Company which offers overseas travel insurance. Responsible for creating dynamically changing website using DHTML (HTML, JavaScript).

Participated in the design of ContextTravel website. Was part of the project team that reworked on the solution architecture, transformed it to responsive design and added in some great analytics for richer experience across the web. Worked on DHTML (HTML, JavaScript)

Was part of the project team that developed E health care management system to a local hospital. It’s a web-based application that assists in management of staffs, doctors and patients in easy, comfortable and effective service. Responsible for creating dynamically changing website using DHTML, JavaScript and was responsible for developing web component Servlets.

Key projects as lead developer and my responsibilities:

Imaging Inquiry Service (May 2007)

Designed and created standalone enterprise Java service that implemented claims image viewing functionality. This service was used by various clients like Oracle Forms, JSP. This app was built on Struts framework with Struts Action Servlets, Spring AspectJ and Spring JDBC. A JSP using SwiftView software was used to display claims images.

Environment: WAS, Spring AOP, JSP, Struts Action Servlet

Forte Migration-Indexing (Jan 2007)

Migrated the existing indexing application (this application pulls up scanned claim and associates to the corresponding group/member/provider) in Forte to Oracle Forms(10g) and Reports. This application was re-written with 3 Forms 10g and 2 reports modules. Separated queueing functionality from front-end application to a batch job(PL/SQL), this improved the performance of the application. Created web based standalone module to view Claims images using SwiftView and JSP.

Environment: Oracle Database, PL/SQL, Database Stored Procedure, Oracle Forms and Reports 10g, JSP and SwiftView.

Dialogue XML (Jun 2006)

Responsible in redesigning and implementing two standalone applications one for Dialogue Letter Generation and the other for Volume Print Request. Dialogue Letter Generation was a standalone web service built on Struts framework and Spring AspectJ for logging and exception handling. XMLBeans API was used to create the Dialogue Letter in XML format. Volume Print Request was Java Standalone application using JDBC for Oracle DB connectivity. Automated entire application by creating batch jobs on Maestro. Followed SDLC standards throughout the lifecycle of the project.

Environment: Struts MVC, XMLBeans, WebSphere, JNDI/JDBC, Spring AOP for cross cutting concerns (AspectJ and Log4j), ANT build tool, Oracle Database, IBM Tivoli workload scheduler.

Forte Migration – Group Contract Rewrite (Apr 2006)

Responsible in rewriting Forte based Group Contract application as Java web service. This application was implemented using Struts MVC framework on WebSphere Application Server. AspectJ was used to implement cross-cutting concerns (exception handling and logging with Log4J) and Spring JDBC for Oracle DB connectivity. Active directory was used for authenticating Windows based VB client. Actively participated in all the SDLC phases, requirement analysis, design, implementation.

Environment: WAS, Spring AOP, Struts MVC, Spring JDBC, ANT build, Active Directory, Oracle DB.

TRJUKE- Imaging Replacement (Jan 2005)

Proactively designed, developed and implemented near line, stable, and scalable imaging system by migrating claims images from optical juke servers to open file systems on EMC disk arrays. Streamlined by automating the Imaging modules. Ensured on-time and high-quality delivery of Image migration project with accurate estimate and tracking on WBS.

Environment: Unix Servers, Oracle Database, AWK shell scripts, Pro*C, PL/SQL, IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler (Maestro).

CAG 2.0 Enhancements (Jun 2004)

Played key role as Technical Lead in designing implementing Complaint Appeal and Grievances (CAG) as a more stable web based application. This application was built on Struts framework, used JSP for front end web page, Java servlets and Oracle database for data access. Web pages (JSP) were displayed based on the user privileges. User authentication and privileges were verified using LDAP. Was responsible for creating Technical Design Spec which involved spec for around 10 JSP’s and 15 POJO classes.

CAG 1.2 Enhancements (Jan 2004)

Was instrumental for maintaining CAG (Complaint Appeal and Grievances) application. This involved maintenance and enhancements releases. CAG application was built on Struts MVC, using JSP for front end, Action Servlets and POJO for Oracle Data access.

CAG Data Capture and Reporting Project – Letters (Jun 2003)

Was part of the team that designed and implemented application tool to fix the duplicative effort required by the maintenance of data in multiple locations (Oracle DB, FileMaker, Excel) which created operational inefficiencies. This application tool was built with Pro*C, DB Procedure, Shell scripts for wrapping Pro*C and DB Procedure, Oracle Forms for front end, SQL Script for reporting, SQL scripts for Oracle DB Table creating, Users and Roles creation and initial data load.

Environment: Pro*C, Shell Script, Oracle DB Procedure, Oracle Forms.

Volume Print Request-. Dialogue®

Was part of the development team that fully automated CAG (complaints, appeal and grievances) letter printing and archiving process. Dialogue®, a third-party software application, was used to print, scan CAG letters. This application had a Pro*C program to extract letter data from Oracle DB based on series of business logic and create delimited letter extract file to be sent to Dialogue® software. Business logic was implemented as individual modules as DB procedures and functions for easy maintenance.

Designed and troubleshot updates for Y2K compliance on Oracle Forms/Reports, Forte, Stored Database Procedures/Functions, SQL/PL/SQL.
