OBJECTIVE

EXPERIENCE
SMP/E Installs and Maintenance of z/OS and z/VM Operating Systems.
Responsible for utilizing HCD to create and maintain all hardware IODFs within the environment.
Currently Responsible for Installing, Maintaining, and Monitoring a total of 19 LPARs (9 z/VM LPARs and 10 z/OS LPARs) across two zEC12 H43 CECs. Also, responsible for approximately 300 SLES Linux guests.
Define and Configure z/Linux Virtual Machines within our z/VM environment.
Define and Maintain all Load, Image, and Reset Profiles utilizing the Hardware Management Console Application on both the HMCs and SEs.
Implemented two-site Global Mirroring using Copy Services Manager on DS8886 DASD boxes at both sites.
Implemented Backup Strategy for Disaster Recovery Business Continuance.
Implemented STP for our Mainframes replacing the Sysplex Timer.
Implemented z/FCP within our z/VM and z/Linux environments.
Fix JCL abends on z/OS and VSE platforms.
Responsible for Modifying and maintaining custom in-house Assembler Exits.
Also, worked with a z/VM hosts running multiple MVS and VSE guest operating systems. Even worked on a second level VM machine running under the z/VM.
Responsible for managing all 375 Terabytes of the company’s Storage Media infrastructure.
Responsible for coding, implementing, and testing all SMS ACS routines in the DFSMS/MVS environment via the ISMF panels.
Responsible for the proper execution of DFSMSHSM as it pertains to its space management functions( Recalls, Migrations, Backups, …etc.)
Responsible for our current DFSMSRMM tape environment as well.
Produce reports on the DASD and DFSMS/MVS environments using NaviQuest and the IDCAMS DCOLLECT facilities.
Responsible for maintaining or scheduling preventive maintenance for all tape and DASD hardware in the environment.
Responsible for initializing all DASD volumes using the ICKDSF utility.
Responsible for meeting with users and distributing DASD space based on their project needs.
Responsible for copying, moving, backing up, defragging, compressing, and releasing unused space on all DASD volumes using DFSMSDSS.
Responsible for maintaining acceptable threshold values in all of our storage groups. This includes temporary workspace assignments. This is accomplished by running scratch jobs using DFSMSDSS to delete files based on their age.
Responsible for correcting all applicable storage abends that occur throughout the day or night.
Responsible for maintaining and revising Disaster Recovery procedures for the environment. Also, responsible for the synchronization of all user and master catalogs.
Responsible for the implementation of new applications and or the new releases of existing applications.
Operation and maintenance of the IBM zEC12, z196, z10, z9 EC CMOS,2827-H43,2817-M32,2097-E40,2094-S28,2084-116,2064-216, 9672-Z67, ES/9021 and 3090 Processor Complexes utilizing the z/OS, z/Linux, MVS, VM, and VSE. Also, VAX/VMS/OpenVMS and Sun SOLARIS, UNIX, Linux, z/Linux, and Windows 7, Vista, NT/200x Enterprise Operating Environments.
z/OS, JES2, VTAM, CICS, DB2, MQ, NETVIEW, HSC and all other system and subsystem commands.
Work extensively with ISPF/PDF, SDSF, and IOF in the TSO/E environment.
Monitor and trouble-shoot XRC problems across the SYSPLEX.
Monitor all systems in the sysplex using OMEGAMON.
Ensured that all systems were up and running prior to the Stock Market open every morning.
Working knowledge of z/OS, OS/390, MVS and VSE JCL.
Working knowledge of CICS, DB2, VTAM, and NETVIEW.
Working knowledge of Commands associated with the operation of the different Operating Environments.
Responsible for IPLing the systems.
Knowledgeable in the operation of the Hardware Management Console for the IBM CMOS 2827-H43, 2817-M32, 2097-E40, 2094-S28, 2084-B16, 2064-114, 9672-Z67 Central Processor Complex.
Resolve ENQUEUE conflicts when detected.
Responsible for the reloading of the NCP when applicable.
Ensured that all the appropriate VTAM lines were activated.
Trouble-shoot any JCL or program problems.
Worked extensively with the USER community setting up JCL and explaining MVS concepts during a VSE to MVS conversion.
Liaison between the User community and the Systems Department.
Worked with the Systems department in the installation and implementation of the Tivoli TWS (OPC) job scheduler.
Operation and maintenance of all associated peripheral devices.
Oversee timely completion of all scheduled Production Batch jobs.
Monitoring and Assurance of Online Availability.
Responsible for running test and production jobs for programmers.
Provide detailed reports to upper management.
Assurance of a smooth workflow.
Trouble-shoot any system problems that might arise throughout the course of a day or night.
Also worked on the Hitachi 6425 and the Amdahl 5950 CPUs both emulating the IBM ES/9021 series of processor complexes.
Also, knowledgeable in the PC/LAN environment.
Worked with a number of clients including Health Insurance Plan for greater New York.
My responsibilities included everything mentioned on the preceding page plus monitoring and mounting of tape mount requests.
