Resume:

Hello Sir or Ma’am,

My name is Micho Todorovich, I am a senior at DePaul University's College of Computing and Digital media studying for a B.S. In Video Game Design with a concentration in Video Game Systems. This degree has the same technical requirements as a Computer Science Systems degree, with an added emphasis on real time computing via video games.

I have already completed my capstone and have 2 courses remaining before I graduate. One course is a seminar in multiculturalism and the other is an additional major elective that I must take because when I transferred to DePaul, I was allowed to skip some major requirements based on my coursework from my previous university. However, I have had to pause my studies because DePaul is very expensive and I cannot afford to finish my degree without employment. For my capstone at DePaul I was part of a team of 6, using a flat organizational structure we spent approximately six months using agile development methods to make a networked multiplayer video game, in Unity, called Artillery Party. Most of my computer science training has been in Modern C++ (C++11 and later) and the C family of languages (C, C#, Java, C As a computer scientist I consider myself language agnostic. I think it is a common mistake to discount a computer scientist because they don't know a specific language or tech in the same way it would be a mistake to discount a mechanic as unqualified to work for you because they haven't worked on your specific make and model car before. I am very proficient in OO design, data driven design, and design patterns.

In Artillery Party, the players play as forward observer for an AI army. Each player is responsible for calling for artillery strikes to support their maneuver elements, so that they can capture objectives on the ground. During the development, I was responsible for designing, implementing, and debugging the networking, which I used UNET to implement. I also designed, and helped implement and debug the AI. The AI was structured as a Hierarchical State Tree, allowing for different units to be able to think at different echelons (Squad, Team, Unit/Individual).

Since time of flight of real artillery strikes can be measured in minutes, we also needed a nonstandard physics solution to get shorter time of flights. I came up with a custom ballistic solution with gravity as an independent variable, allowing me to arbitrarily adjust the time of flight on my firing solutions. Also, I programmed the custom fully diegetic UI that we used to allow the player to call for fire by clicking on their map. Including fully procedurally generating the military style map from the terrain, with custom editor windows to expose the design functionality to our designers. Have a look at what I am talking about here. As implied by the previous paragraph I have an extensive background in mathematics. I also have significant experience with OpenGL and DirectX. During my courses in computer graphics we were required to write a primitive graphics engine from scratch with OpenGL. I have also studied DirectX 11 and 12 as part of my own personal studies. As a veteran I am very comfortable with working with little additional guidance once I have been given task and purpose. I think the skills, knowledge, and experience I gained at DePaul make me well suited to this role. I love solving challenging problems and working as a team, I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Thank You,

Micho Todorovich
