Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort

Assistant Complex Director of Engineering 01/2009-12/2013

Responsibilities include leading the Westin engineering department 13 staff team and Sheraton Yankee Clipper Hotel with 16 staff team members, while dealing directly with contractors and vendors in the absence of the director of Engineering; the up-keeping and maintenance of a 432 room hotel property with 32,000 Sf of meeting space by the Westin, 520 rooms by the Sheraton several dining outlets, multiple kitchens, storage facilities and extensive public area space with $2000000.00 dollar budget a year for each property.

Other duties included leading the installation and repair of all HVAC systems, operating computerized Johnson Controls A/C Metasys equipment; trouble shooting and repair of electrical, plumbing and mechanical equipment as needed and basic operation and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems, chillers and boilers.

Leading roll on the Property Preventive Maintenance programs to ensure Guest Experience Index Goals; direct participation in Six Sigma projects such as Engineering Inventory Controls as well as the installation and implementation of Synergy systems to attain the 30 / 20 by 20 energy saving goals established by Starwood Corporation.

Maintenance and repair of 520 hotel rooms and meeting spaces. Directly worked on major capital renovations to re-open the hotel and ensure that is all according to Starwood Corporation standards to guarantee the guest Experience.

Empresa Constructora de Obras Industriales (ECOI)

Construction Technician 09/1985-01/2005

As a government controlled entity, ECOI was responsible for the construction of major projects such as thermoelectric factories, Supertanker maritime ship docking facilities and entire hospitals. My superintendent duties included a broad range of responsibilities, from topographical analysis and surveys to ground preparation and the interpretation and timely execution to specifications of architectural drawing and blue prints. My responsibilities also included the supervision of different construction systems like paneling, sliding molds and others. I directed and supervised a staff of 16 foremen who in term supervised teams of 10 to 15 line workers.
