Experienced engineer with strong analytical skills, critical thinking and 7+ years experience in communications - algorithms, statistics and parameter estimation. Strong grasp of firmware, bit-level and real-time\near real-time system development. Quick to learn new disciplines and integrate in large systems. Looking to leverage my strong low-level background and build upon my coding and algorithms skills in a software development position.
Professional Experience
Qualcomm Hod Hasharon, Israel
Staff Algorithms Engineer Jan 2017 - June 2018
● Headed algorithm, fixed-point design and testing of carrier frequency detection and correction on Pre-5G and then 5G cellular modems.
● Headed the modem-wide debugging of lab samples during pre-5G bring-up and wrote a framework to run various sample formats through the Matlab golden model for debugging purposes.
● Reduced debug time by 30% by initiating and writing a Matlab GUI tool for the pre-5G chip bring-up effort, enabling quick visual sample analysis and pre-processing of lab samples for debugging.
● Led the algorithmic implementation and fixed-point design of SFBC MIMO mode of the pre-5G modem.
Israeli Defence Force, Intelligence corps Rank: Captain Israel Signal processing and communications engineer Oct 2010 - Oct 2016
● Reduced modem’s error rate by 80% by introducing a multi-level convolutional error correction scheme. This scheme was also used in future projects.
● Selected to spearhead a new project, leading the development of a new communication protocol and its algorithmic implementation.
● Assumed responsibility of team’s main product (adaptive modem), including all aspects of a complex, real time, system including software, firmware, and learning of noisy channel parameters.
● Increased FSK modem’s bandwidth by 33% by identifying an inefficiency in the modem’s feedback equalizer, then developing a solution to save hardware cycles.
● Instrumental in the development of a new QAM-based FSK modem’s hardware and software
(Matlab, C#, VHDL)
