Mohs Histology including embedding, cutting, microtonomy, H&E staining, Immuno hand stains, and cover slipping. Prepare fresh tissue by embedding on to the slide, needs to freeze for 2 to 3 minutes and than i embedded to a cold chuck. Next I start to cut the frozen tissue on the Cryostat. From there it is baked for 5 minutes and than it is stained on the Leica linear stainer. Last every case gets its documentation to be read by the surgeons.
File slides and blocks to ensure all cases can be found when needed.
Perform additional responsibilities incidental to Histology Laboratory activities. 2008 -2011 Strata Pathology Services Lexington, MA Histologist
Process tissue including embedding, cutting, microtonomy, H&E staining, special stains, immunohistochemical staining and cover slipping. First thing in the morning I take out the small biopsies that’s on the VIP tissue processor consisting of skins, prostates, and gi’s. Than I take the biopsies to my embedding station by first scanning the block on copath and than i embedd the tissue. Next I take the biopsies I embedded to my cutting station by first scanning the block on copath, shaving the blocks and cutting. Next I bake the slides for 20 minutes, than I separate the slides for h&e, special and immuno staining. The h&e staining is performed on the leica auto stainner/coverslipper. The special and immuno staining goes on the Dako artsain auto stainner. After the staining is done we match the slides with the blocks put them on slide folders with its documentation to be read by the pathologist.
File blocks and slides to ensure all cases can be found when needed.
