ENGINEERING WORK EXPERIENCE AND PROJECTS
Engineering Intern, United Air Lines, San Francisco, California, July – Sept. 2014. Shop Support Engineering Intern for the Engine Group, United Air Lines Maintenance Base, SFO Airport. Designed repairs for accessory engine parts.
Created and documented procedures to authorize future use of my repair designs. Evaluated out-of-service components' usability.
Classified rejected parts for repair, use, or scrap. Contributed to a significant reduction in unused inventory. Glove Actually (Northwestern Hackathon 2015, project hosted at https://devpost.com/software/glove-actually) Designed a temperature sensor and heating pad feedback system powered by an Arduino Flora controller. Mounted electronics on the inside of a winter glove without interfering with normal use. Connected the controller to an Android app via Bluetooth to allow it to perform simple phone tasks. Hand Goniometry Glove (Advanced Mechatronics Class Project) Designed and assembled a fiber-optic IR bend sensor to measure finger joint angles. Designed PCBs and built sensors to send data to a PIC32 microcontroller. Calibrated sensors to convert voltage from light readings to angles. Project CivilShield: Blast Resistant Trash Receptacle (Engineering Design and Communication Class Project) Evaluated state-of-the-art trash receptacles that currently address the threat of terrorist explosives. Performed compression testing on raw materials proven for blast absorption. Created CAD sketches of ideal geometrical design for maximum blast absorption. Presented final report to client, QuesTek Innovations, LLC. SKILLS
Programming: MATLAB, C, PIC Microcontrollers
CAD: NX, Solidworks
Office: Word, Excel, Powerpoint
