Name: Characterization of Four Wave Mixing effect in DWDM Systems using Optisystem Duration: Jan 2018 to June 2018

Description: Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) systems multiplexes numerous data streams carried by closely spaced optical carrier signals of varying wavelengths onto a single optical fiber. This creates nonlinear effects including FWM. FWM pose a limitation on channel capacity and data rates, degrading the performance. A DWDM optical communication system is designed and simulated using Optisystem tool. The behavior of FWM is characterized for different modulation formats, power, channel spacing etc. Methods to mitigate the effects of FWM is implemented.

Description: The accident detection system consists of pressure sensors deployed in vehicle to sense pressure continuously. On occurrence of accidents, the pressure increases above threshold and a message is sent to the road side nodes and notifies specified base stations through IR transmitters and receivers and also to the Base station. PHS technology as alternative to GPS is used for the purpose of vehicle tracking in network less area. Name: Blood Leakage Detector for Applications in Hemodialysis Duration: Jan 2016 to June 2016

Description: The blood leakage detector is a bracelet monitoring device for blood leakage detection during the hemodialysis treatment. The design includes a photo interrupter, microcontroller, GSM module, LED, buzzer etc. On detecting blood leakage, it activates auditory signals and also sends SMS, so that immediate action can be taken.
