Robotics PLC HVAC Fluid Mechanic Systems PID Controls Sensors Electro-Pneumatics & Electricity
QUALIFICATION SUMMARY
Educated Electromechanical Engineering Technologist with 3 years’ hands-on experience designing, programming and building unique robotic and electrical devices in a practical, academic setting. Passionate about creating valuable tools to provide solutions to real issues. Innovative problem solver, quick learner, and dedicated to continuous improvement.
EDUCATION
Electromechanical Engineering Technology, Associate’s Degree June 2017
Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning Brampton, ON
Key Accomplishments
PLC & Ladder Logic: Constructed logic to create highly automated manufacturing and assembly sequences, adding DeviceNet connections as well as HMI and SCADA features; while developing expertise in programs including RS Logix 500/5000, Panelview 1000, and FactoryTalk Studio
CAD Cam: Designed and built an automated pneumatic cylinder capable of exerting 500 lbs of force to crush cans to two-inch thickness using Solid Works and a series of photoelectric sensors and relays; also constructed a safety feature to lock cylinder when detecting interference
HVAC: Collaborated with team to design functional HVAC system for a two-story office building with a 3D print shop; accounting for heating and cooling loads, ventilation requirements, piping and duct layout, dehumidifying needs; providing safety, functionality, and comfort for the office
Robotics: Working with ABB robots and Robot Studio, utilized movement commands and subroutines to simulate “pick-and-place” scenarios; integrated PLC with robot’s digital I/O to facilitate greater control over a wide range of conditions
RELEVENT EXPERIENCE
MDA & Bruce Power September 2016 – December 2016
Student Robotics Consultant Brampton, ON
Through an arrangement with Sheridan College, acted as a consultant while completing an Engineering Capstone Project. Was responsible for the design and construction of prototype pipe inspection crawler-bot, used to gather data and evaluate the structural integrity of nuclear material pipes.
Key Accomplishments
Successfully designed prototype capable of travelling within nuclear reactor piping, carrying an ultrasonic sensor to capture data; prototype used by MDA to inform design of future bots
Led team in electrical wiring and programming of the 2-band crawler bot, capable of gripping pipe at 60-degree intervals and travelling at a rate of 24 inches every 10 seconds
Awarded “Cimetrix Capstone Project Award” by a panel of engineering community leaders; placing first among 37 competing capstone projects
Living Art Kitchens, Engineering Department February 2016 – November 2016
Design Technologist North York, ON
Reporting directly to ownership, primary responsibility was implementing the Microvellum automated cutting and nesting device and accompanying software to increase kitchen cabinet production speed, automation, and customization options, while decreasing errors and safety risks.
Key Accomplishments
Managed the equipment and software installation of Microvellum Toolbox V7, generating customized G-codes, syncing software with library of over 100 pieces of inventory and programming parameters for each piece to support up to 6 elements of unique customization
Programed software to optimize nesting and cutting procedures to ensure the CNC machines cut materials which fit within company design standards and customer customization requests
Served as subject matter expert, liaising frequently with Microvellum technical support and training CNC team and designers on the use and troubleshooting procedures of Microvellum
Utilized creative problem solving to circumvent multiple technical limitations of the Microvellum system to resolve production-delaying issues and further customize program capabilities
ADDITIONAL PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Mobile Climate Control August 2018 – September 2018
Electrical Assembler (Contract) Vaughan, ON
Employed knowledge of electromechanical technology to assemble HVAC elements including potentiometers, pressure sensors and temperature sensors later installed in HVAC equipment
Soldered hundreds of individual elements per day safely and accurately
Eaton January 2018 – July 2018
Mechanical Assembler (Contract) Milton, ON
Utilized advanced training in electromechanical engineering technology to efficiently assemble residential electrical panel components contributing to the completed products sold by Eaton
Completed other essential assembly duties; supporting PRL1 by building commercial electrical panels, operating the Break Press to bend parts into shape, and assisting with the Paint Line
Ensured a safe work environment through the application of 5S Safety Protocol
Rocky’s No Frills May 2007 - Present
Dairy & Grocery Clerk Brampton, ON
Assume management role in manager’s absence, placing supply orders with vendors, managing shipment receiving, and ensuring storefront is stocked to optimal levels
Train and mentor new Grocery and Dairy Clerks on procedures, safety, and customer service
