Visveswaraya Technological University, India Percentage: 75.6/100

Bachelor of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Graduated: Aug 2010 – Jul 2014

Related Coursework: Fluid Mechanics, Finite Element Methods, CAD, Physics

SKILLS

Solid hands on experience with the following tools: AutoCAD, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, CATIA, ICEM, Ansys, Star CCM+, running jobs on High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster and Microsoft Office.

Basics in MATLAB, Adobe Photoshop CS5.1, Minitab.

Worked with teams for successful completion of projects to coordinating events to handling customers.

EXPERIENCE

CFD Research Work in University of Cincinnati (Dec 2015 - present)

Flow investigation, design exploration and acoustic study of high geometry nozzles for jet engines.

Tools used: HPC Resources from Ohio Supercomputer, Secure Shell client, SolidWorks and Star CCM+.

Description: A super-sonic high aspect-ratio nozzle with experimental results had to be validated.

A jet flow volume and an acoustic region was prepared in SolidWorks. Reduction in domain size for substantial reduction in file size (by over 50%) and computational time was taken as a requirement.

Mesh generation involved estimating cell type and size requirements for different regions. Effects of structured vs un-structured was proven with substantial accuracy in solution and lower dissipation losses.

Physical models were scrutinized to best accommodate practical demands on the solution and the time it would take to reach the same. Computational time was reduced by over 33% in most cases.

Steady state RANS was used as a precursor to initiate DES/LES. And FW-H method was used to obtain pressure variations in the domain. Fast Fourier transformations (FFT) then provided the Sound Pressure Levels for validation of the experimental results obtained in the Gas Dynamics and Propulsion Laboratory.

HPC resources were used at 90% efficiency.

PROJECTS

Six Sigma Green Belt Training & Certification (Jan– April 2018)

Provide day to day updates to guide on potential changes that impact the process or deliveries.

Tools used: Fishbone Diagrams, Root - Cause analysis, Process capability studies, Minitab

Successfully completed a 12-week rigorous project to reduce variability and error in a mechanical launching system by demonstrating Continuous Improvement (DMAIC cycle). Improved efficiency by 90%.

Ensure project procedures, dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) are followed to reach target in time.

Process capability index, viz. Cp and Cpk values was monitored and deviation reports prepared.

Corrective actions like shifting to automation to eliminate human error, following maintenance requirements to keep performance at optimum levels and documenting the details for future references.

Fabrication Engineer Intern in South Western Railways, India (Feb 2013 - March 2014)

Credited for design exploration, automation and implementation of an assembly line system.

Contributed to economizing quality and quantity production in the industry.

Initial project was planned by mentoring and collecting data for existing methodology used.

Took up the role to come up with an optimal design and fabricating the automatic painting machine.

Material purchasing, procurement of parts was done with given budget and time scale.

Final quality testing and control was made to accommodate reasonable demands on the process, increasing the rate of production by over 50% and thus saving costs for the industry.

Conducted an intercollegiate event with a bike modification for mileage check (2013)

Started an as exploratory study to validate the mileage of my motorcycle drew attention and was further developed to an event.

Contestants could get the mileage for their bikes checked as well.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Presented in International Conference on Technology Management for Green Environment - 2013.

Volunteer for EDUSPRINT marathon conducted by NSS and Red Cross Youth Wing, India.
