PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

Twenty-seven years as a medical professional provides a depth of knowledge and experience treating an extensive and complex array of conditions. As an ER/trauma nurse for twenty years in urban, rural and remote locations I provided intervention and treatment for a wide variety of conditions. a vast array of life experiences, and a strong cardiac background. This included acute myocardial infarctions diagnosed in the emergency department through EKG’s and serial troponin levels, cardioversions, external pacing, pacemaker interrogations, and VAD care. I have also cared for chemically dependent patients in the ER and in the clinic where I precepted. We had a contract with the patient that listed out the amount and type of medication that could be administered and their plan of care which included drug testing. As a Medical Director, I developed and administered a medical program for at-risk children and youth, many with complex medical needs including psychiatric diagnosis and significant trauma history. As a professor I provided classroom education and hands-on clinical oversight to nursing students. The experience and knowledge previously gained enhanced my experience as a nurse practitioner student, where I treated and provided on-going management of a wide variety of acute illnesses to include diabetes, hypertension, COPD, asthma, end stage renal failure, low t. Additional experience as a nurse practitioner student includes: examining and assessing patients, analyzing and interpreting laboratory and procedure results, developing plans of care, medication management, maintaining prescribing integrity, developing discharge instructions, and completing comprehensive high-quality documentation and charting within the EMR. I continually strive to increase knowledge and gain experience as a clinician to treat each patient medically and professionally interacting with each patient to maximize presenting and on-going health outcomes.
