Key Accomplishments
Instituted virtualization (VMWare) at Cardenas Markets Inc., successfully saving thousands on equipment purchase and maintenance costs.
Implemented Solarwinds Network Monitor across the enterprise. Created automated reports in Solarwinds for management regarding telco carriers, wireless status and warranty status.
Replaced an out of date PBX that resulted in cost savings by installing Asterisk PBX (Linux) using PRI, SIP Trunks and VOIP handsets at Cardenas Markets.
Provided time critical services during merger cut over after acquisition of new corporate assets at Cardenas Markets.
Replaced unsupported Cisco firewall with Palo Alto (new rule sets and zoning)
Created standardizing configuration templates for Sonicwall firewalls for POS to fit multiple POS manufacturer formats and transport versatility (MPLS or IPSEC) at Cardenas Markets.
Avoided thousands in costs by expediting firmware upgrades, engineering change orders, and instituting physical inspections to expand configuration core competencies at Cardenas Markets Inc.
Minimized risk exposure through critically managing the network security by adding an HTTP proxy server to block malicious and inappropriate URLs as well as monitor activity at Cardenas Markets.
Implemented WSUS patching across the enterprise. After proving the centralized patching concept, I was able to get approval for SolarWinds Patch Manager to provide centralized patch and updates of third party software packages. This greatly enhanced the PCI auditing process in that a simple report could be pulled in minutes validating our security precautions.
