This included major designs such as a new remote order fulfillment system for smart meters, as well as small designs which documented solutions for production control problems to expedite the approval process.
Also participated in the construction phase of projects programming in COBOL, DB2 and CICS as well as WebSphere interfaces via FEPI.

Responsible for all online programs on the UNISYS system. These programs also execute in batch mode interfacing with web based new business entry programs, outside agency files and renewal processing.
Took the initiative to convert over a hundred generated screen files so that a map/program generator (ESI) software license could be terminated resulting in annual savings of $98,000.

Wrote programs for the Indiana power subsidiary (PSI) conversion to CMS.

Modified commercial lines system (CICS/VSAM) to support additional lines of business, developed direct billing capability and generated coverage data into DB2 tables for company’s claim verification system. Also installed system in company’s eastern and northern regions.
Enhanced several CICS/IDMS personal lines systems (automobile, homeowners, marine) including the design and programming of rating modules.
Wrote many ad-hoc reports utilizing CULPRIT.

Greatly enhanced company’s Engineering Management and Cost System (IDMS). Added many internal control and reconciliation features as this system interfaced with many other systems, as it was the billing support for military and commercial engineering contracts. Wrote many CICS inquiry, update and data collection programs to increase system’s functionality.
Participated on a DB2 pilot team that inserted contract-to-date history to this database. Wrote batch and CICS migrated this history (DB2) and current year data (IDMS).

Installed a purchased IDMS general ledger system that was greatly modified to meet company requirements.
Was on the project that developed an in-house IDMS payroll and human resource system. Personally responsible for gross-to-net processing with its attendant reporting and reconciliation. Also implemented several ADS/O applications.

Other work experience included development and installation responsibility for a generalized Financial Reporting system, a Fixed Asset Accounting system and an Actuarial Studies system. These IBM Assembler written systems were installed at various Life Insurance companies throughout the country.
Also participated in numerous customer studies and feasibility analyses.
