BRIEF

DESCRIPTION

Friction Stir Welding is a solid state thermo -mechanical joining process. The friction stir welding is advancement in the welding process the metals which are used should not melted.

The main objective of the friction stir welding is to study of welding similar aluminum alloys like AA6063 by using butt welding process.

In this welding process different parameters Speed and Feed are used. By Giving the speed and feed we can weld the metals as per our requirement.

In particular to observe the tensile strength, impact strength at various distances from the Centre line of weld bead of the joints. It was found that the highest tensile strength and impact strength of the joint was obtained when welding (FSW) was performed with highest welding speed and tool rotational speed, keeping AA6063 plates on advancing side.

In this welding metals are used in aerospace ship building and fabrications.
