SENIOR DESIGN PROJECT sponsored by MEDTRONIC NEUROSURGERY Worked under the supervision of Medtronic to develop a handheld, electronic device intended to accurately locate subcutaneous shunt valves, used in the treatment of hydrocephalus. Listed below are my contributions to this project.
● Designed and printed the compact, plastic enclosure for said device
● Developed the positioning algorithm for an Arduino-controlled array of magnetoresistive sensors
● Designed and fabricated a precise testing station for said array, using a two-axis, micrometer slide
● Wrote a Matlab function to efficiently process 10,000 data points with respect to 8 parameters, reducing the time to test positioning algorithm by 95%
