SUMMARY
I’m a positive, self-motivated, and goal-oriented professional with a passion for learning and delivering optimum workmanship. I am interested in various applications of technology, especially Information Technology, and how it impacts our daily lives. I constantly seek opportunities to increase my knowledge and experience in the field of data communications and computer networking infrastructure, while enhancing my overall IT skills set. I look forward contributing to the team’s success.
CORE COMPETENCIES
I hold active Cisco CCNA R&S and CCENT certificates.
I have working knowledge of SolarWinds, Wireshark, Infoblox, and Active Directory.
I have broad knowledge of VOIP technology and how it integrates with the “old” public switched telephone networks PSTN.
I have broad knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. I am fluent in English and French.
I have comprehensive knowledge of PC hardware. I have replaced and installed hard drives, network interface cards (NICs), and blades on network servers. I have replaced and installed failed cooling fans on routers, servers, and firewalls. I have replaced redundant power supplies on Cisco routers and core switches.
Between 2007 and 2015, I was part of JHA’s Communications Install team, working on new installation projects. I configured Cisco 1841 routers that established and supported WAN connectivity between JHA clients and JHA data centers over a Frame-Relay network. I also configured Cisco 1812 routers which established and supported the same WAN connection to JHA data centers over a DMVPN network. I upgraded JHA clients Cisco 1811 routers to Cisco 1812 ones, and later upgraded the 1812 to 892 for WAN connectivity in our DMVPN network.
During JHA’s company-wide IT Infrastructure Upgrade project, I was part of the implementation/delivery team that migrated all JHA’s WAN traffic off our Frame-Relay network over to our DMVPN network environment. I helped configure, replace, and deploy all our customers Cisco 1841 routers at remote sites with Cisco 892 routers and made sure all WAN connections and live production traffic were 100% re-established and fully functional traversing our DMVPN environment. This IT Infrastructure Upgrade project ran for over six (6) years.
I also worked closely with JHA’s corporate Telecommunications team, assisting with moves, adds, and changes to all JHA’s telephones. I was their contact person at our Houston data center. They would configure all phones (analog, digital, and IP Phones) at a remote office and ship the equipment to my location. I would then physically install all equipment at the designated office spaces. With analog and digital phones, I would match all phone port numbers to corresponding phone system patch panel ports in the server/comms room. I would then use a punching tool to cross-connect phone wires matching panel numbers to ports allowing the phones to come live. The IP phones obtained and loaded their configuration files from the call manager.
WORK EXPERIENCE
DXC TECHNOLOGY MAY 2018 – Present
Business Connectivity Analyst (BCA)
As a Business Connectivity Analyst in the Network Connectivity Services group, I work with HPE’s internal customers (Application teams and Business requestors) to understand their network connectivity requirements, gathering information necessary to define appropriate solutions consistent with HPE’s IT strategy and Cyber Security policy governance.
In my role:
I receive connectivity requests from internal HPE customers (requestor).
I review the request and determine if it meets all predefined network connectivity requirements.
I work with the requester to make any needed corrections or clarifications to their request before I submit it to the Cyber Security team for their review and approval to implement the request.
I oversee IT security approval in order to drive the request through its lifecycle.
HOUSTON METHODIST HOSPITAL APRIL 2016 – JULY 2017
Network Operations Analyst II
I monitored the health of the Houston Methodist Data Centers, including its network, servers and storage environment. I proactively identified resolved, and/or escalated connectivity and processing issues as required. Among my duties:
I was a member of a team that is the interface of the Houston Methodist IT Infrastructure after-hours support.
I monitored and reported on the performance and health of the network, server, and data center facility resources.
I utilized SolarWinds and other software tools to identify factors affecting infrastructure performance and I communicated my findings to the appropriate teams.
I monitored nightly processes that ran on an IBM Z10 mainframe.
JACK HENRY & ASSOCIATES (JHA), INC JUNE 2000 – MAY 2015
Network Engineer, August 2008 – May 2015.
I joined JHA’s Communications department which supported their company-wide network operations and IT Infrastructure. I also carried over my previous duties as a Jr. Network Engineer from the Outlink Communications Group (OCG) because OCG was restructured and aligned under the JHA Communications’ department. Among my duties:
I provided technical support to our internal and external users.
I performed Network monitoring, testing, maintenance, and documentation.
I lead new client installations projects, which consisted of configuring the client’s Cisco router to support Point-to-Point, Frame Relay, ISDN, or VPN connectivity to our data centers.
I troubleshot circuit issues with carriers such as AT&T to ensure WAN connectivity was established and that our servers, printers, ATMs, and other needed networked resources at our respective data centers were reachable.
I ensured that Jack Henry & Associates Inc. employees were able to connect to our corporate LAN. Sometimes this required that I make sure our users were physically plugged into the correct Cisco switchports (for wired users).
I participated in our team’s on-call rotation to provide after-hours support to our clients.
I assisted our external clients, as needed, to perform after-hours Disaster Recovery (DR) tests to ensure they had a fully functional redundant WAN and LAN connectivity solution setup to connect back to our data centers.
Jr. Network Engineer, October 2007 – August 2008.
In the Outlink Communications Group (OCG), my duties were to support and maintain customer connectivity.
I provided technical support to our internal and external users.
I performed Network monitoring, testing, maintenance, and documentation.
I configured Cisco routers to support Point-to-Point, Frame Relay, or ISDN WAN connectivity for new customers.
I troubleshot circuit issues with carriers such as AT&T to ensure WAN connectivity was established and that our servers, printers, ATMs, and other needed networked resources at our respective OCG data centers were reachable.
Computer Operator II, August 2006 – October 2007.
I continued working at the Houston Outlink Data Center with broader work responsibilities, increased autonomy and lesser management supervision. Among my responsibilities;
I performed all duties of a Computer Operator 1.
I trained and mentored new Computer Operators joining the team.
Computer Operator 1, June 2000 – August 2006.
Working at the Houston Outlink Data Center, I followed instructions to perform routine processing functions to meet deadlines or standards. All data processing was done on an IBM AS400 Mainframe.
I maintained logs, checklists and procedures to ensure accuracy and completion of daily functions.
I monitored the console and other online systems. When a prompt was displayed on the console I responded by taking appropriate actions, or when needed, escalated to my supervisor.
I provided technical support to our internal and external users.
I performed this in a courteous and professional manner.
I consistently followed our company-established guidelines for securing our data and our computer room.
I cross-trained to work all shifts and became able to perform all duties regardless of shifts at the data center.
