“Synthesis and functionalization of carbon dots with oxygen sensitive dyes for selective oxygen sensing in the tear film.”- (2016-17)
Major Project
“Mitocurcumin functionalized carbon dots (MitoDots) for theranostic applications 2017-18)
This project is funded by KSCST (8000/-) and IIChe, BRC (5000 Bangalore
Synthesis of carbon nanodots from organic waste such as rice husk, water melon etc.., via green chemistry approach to develop a theranostic tool to deliver drugs into tumor cells with minimum drug leakage into normal cells and also diagnose the tumor region.
Characterization of carbon dots in terms of size, morphology, and surface chemistry
Functionalization of carbon dots with mitocurcumin(drug) and its characterization
Impregnation of contact lens with functionalized nanodots
Non-invasive fluorescence spectroscopy is used to measure oxygen using fluorescence lifetime quenching approach.
HOBBY PROJECTS
1. Conversion of Bio-waste to Bio-ethanol(Acid hydrolysis). 2. Studies on Extraction of glutathione from Asparagus. PROFESSIONAL INDUSTRIAL TRAINING
1. Karnataka Soaps and Detergents ltd, Bengaluru June’01July’21(2016) Interned at KSDL, Bengaluru for two months. During this period I was exposed to various product manufacturing processes. This internship mainly included manufacturing sandal soap, Detergents, bar soap and talcum powder. 2. Tadimety Aromatics ltd, Tumakuru June’01-June’15(2017) One week of training at Tadimety Aromatics ltd, Tumakuru gave an understanding of working of industrial equipment. During this period I was exposed to various working processes of industrial equipment such as Boilers, Refrigeration systems, cooling towers, Pumps and Reactors.
3. Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers ltd, Mangalore June’27-July’07(2017) MCF is the subsidiary unit of Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore limited better known as FACT. The in plant training lasted for 2 weeks. I had the rare opportunity of visiting and studying the sensitive manufacturing plants like Sulphuric acid, Sulfonated naphthalene formaldehyde(SNF), Ammonia, Ammonium bi carbonate, Diammonium phosphate, Naptha reforming and Effluent water treatment plant. I was also exposed to the safety procedures and precautions taken at each manufacturing plant.
