Experienced Software Engineer primarily in software testing. Experienced in developing software test procedures based on software requirements and industry standards, for both white box testing and black box testing. I have worked with developers to ensure the quality of software projects. As a result, errors were detected and solved at an earlier stage. Furthermore, this shortened development time, lowered development costs, field error rates, and limited field rework.

Teradyne, Buffalo Grove, Il. 2010 - Present

Software Test Engineer

Responsible for developing software test cases to test different Automatic testing equipment platforms. This equipment is used to test electronic components that are used in various electronic devices. Also, I verify that new and existing software and hardware perform correctly on the latest version of the software. In addition, I work with developers to define the source of problems which are encountered and the best way to solve them. I then retest the problems that I found to make sure that the new version of the software fixes the problem and does not create new issues. I also review the code being developed by other engineers for the test equipment. I also review the test procedures that were developed by other engineers to test the software.

I train new engineers in how to use the testers that Teradyne produces and how to run the test procedures that the software testing group uses. I taught them how to install software; use the various software tools used on the tester; and how to verify the tester performs correctly. I show them how to run the test procedures used by the software testing group; how to write up a bug report; and how to retest the bug verifying the problem has been fixed.

Moreover, I develop automated test software that allowed for the testing of both new and existing hardware. These programs allow the user to verify the software changes that have been made for new hardware being developed for the test equipment based on the design for the software. I then wrote applications that allowed for the automated testing of error conditions for the latest software for newest hardware being developed for the testing equipment. These applications allowed for hundreds of error conditions to be tested in a matter of hours. These applications could also be modified to expand the number of error conditions quickly to adapt to changes in the design.

BAXTER CONTRACTOR, Round Lake, Il. 2008 - 2009

Software Test Engineer

Responsible for developing subsystem software test cases for an infusion pump. This is used to ensure a continuous feed for an IV line. In addition, the test cases were based on the system requirements for the infusion pump and FDA regulations.

MOTOROLA CONTRACTOR, Arlington Heights, IL 2008

Software Test Engineer

Responsible for testing mobile handsets. The testing included downloading the latest software for the handset from a PC; running tests on the handset; and reporting problems encountered.

MOTOROLA CONTRACTOR, Hoffman Estates, IL 2007 – 2008

Customer Support Engineer

Responsible for on-site customer support for Motorola at AT&T. This included software that managed customer access to cable; high speed internet; and voice over IP. Furthermore, this software allowed AT&T to control which services were given to each customer.

MOTOROLA CONTRACTOR 3GSM & CDMA, Libertyville, IL 2006 – 2007

Software Engineer

Responsible for Linux Java open source verification. I reviewed Linux-based software releases for wireless phones to ensure open source compliance. Also, I verified the releases would build properly. Furthermore, I documented the results and reported problems using Excel spreadsheets and Bugzilla. Finally, I verified these problems were corrected in later software releases.

Software Engineer II

Responsible for software integration testing on a digital cross-connect system. This was used for the routing and grooming telephone and data traffic from one network to another. Also, I designed and implemented test plans verifying software integration of new software and hardware releases. These tests were based on the System Requirements. In addition, I executed new and existing test procedures. Furthermore, I worked with developers to define the source of the defects found during testing. As a result, these problems were solved in a timely manner. Finally, I reviewed test procedures, customer documentation, and software design updates.

Software Engineer

Responsible for subsystem testing of products used in a cellular network as an interface between the switch; other network components; and other cellular networks. Also, I designed and implemented subsystem test procedures verifying the call processing functionality of these products using software simulators. In addition, I was responsible for mentoring new employees. For example, this included having them acclimated to the software tools & methods used in our group. Furthermore, I reviewed test procedures and customer documentation ensuring these procedures met the system requirements. Finally, I assisted customer support in resolving problems found in the field.
