SENIOR ENGINEER

Design, install, and configure SCADA networks for Water treatment plants across the country leveraging Microsoft and Cisco products. This includes Windows 2008 server, Microsoft SQL server and Cisco networking devices. Some of these systems required configuration and installation of EMC SANs. Analyzed communication needs to secure the systems but also provide connectivity to managers outside of plant operations. Installed hardware to allow connectivity including Cisco ASAs, routers, switches, and IPS devices. Installed software to monitor health of the system and to alert personnel when a failure occurred or when packet loss was above normal. Protected the systems using a variety of technologies including anti-virus software, vulnerability scanning, software patching strategy, SIEM and IPS devices. Also secured the systems using Access Control Lists (ACLs) on the routers/switches to allow permitted traffic while logging denied traffic. Configured systems to send syslog information to SIEM for correlation of events. Setup policies to alert the proper personnel when prohibited events occurred using the correlated information. Resolved complex ACL issues for server and device communication. Configured Cisco ISE to perform port level authentication and Cisco ACS for switch authentication.

Key Achievements:

Spearheaded the largest deployment of a SCADA system to serve a water treatment plant developed by Emerson Power and Water Division. This included 50 Dell Blade servers, EMC SANs, and a large Cisco Infrastructure including Cisco ACS and ISE.

Helped bring the above project back to a realistic time table. This project was over 1 years behind schedule.

Designed and installed necessary infrastructure for clients of the Water Division.

Managed the security initiative for the Water/Wastewater department by designing and installing the necessary infrastructure to secure the systems of our clients.

Negotiated and secured a contract for the establishment of MPLS network for sites to support video conferencing.

Improved business continuity during power outages by updating the company data center with sufficient cooling and power systems which included a new UPS and generator. This required managing a project that totally re-wired the data center to maintain sufficient power and upgrade every facet of the data center

Led the infrastructure upgrade which included 35 Cisco ASAs, standardizing the network with Cisco hardware. Created an MPLS network with Cisco Routers. Replaced aging switches with Cisco Catalyst PoE switches.

Reduce telecommunications costs by thousands by determining needs of each location, reducing number of lines located at each site and re-negotiation of contracts.

Generated more than $70K for the schools by obtaining federally funded money for telecommunications through eRate program.
