Shift :

7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM. Total No. of laboratory technicians: 9

( nine) = 5 or 6 morning shift, one in afternoon and one in the evening. and one day-off : 1. To be responsible for operation of a functional section of the laboratory at a technical and organizational level. When necessary. carry out technical procedures. especially those requiring highly developed specialist skills.

2. To ensure that all staff in the functional section operates in efficient and conscientious manner with guidelines agreed by the pathologist and as specified in the departmental safety document. 3. Performs collection and preparation of specimens such as blood, urine, stool. saliva. sputum, throat swabs, wound swabs and discharges, skin scrapings, timed specimens. nasal swabs. urethral swabs and discharges, eye swabs, ear swabs and discharges, and other specimens requested by doctors using blood collection tubes (vacutainer with color-coded anticoagulants), sterile collection containers, cotton swabs,

( sterile and / or with gel impregnated media), 24 hour specimen containers, applicator sticks and glass slides.

4. Executes processing of the required specimens as requested accordingly as to sections assigned such as clinical chemistry, Hematology, Clinical Microscopy, Serology, Virology, Bacteriology, Parasitology and Toxicology.

5. Reports and records result accordingly with the record book and departmental computer for databse analysis and statistics.

Proper maintenance and the cleanliness of each equipment assigned to him, including daily weekly and monthly check-up and replacement of spare parts schedules.

Duties and Responsibilities

1.Daily:

Performs all duties required to ensure the efficient and safe operation of a complete functional section of the laboratory. These include:

(One ); Task allocation.

(Two); Managing sectional flow.

(Three); Validating analytical results before release.

(Four); Overseeing internal routine maintenance of analytical instrumentation and other processing equipment.

(Five); Maintaining and monitoring of staff time keeping and discipline.

(Six); Performing analytical tasks, especially those requiring highly developed skills. 2. Weekly, monthly and as required:

(One ); Organization of staff schedules for the functional section.

(Two); Maintenance of sufficient levels of consumable items.

(Three); Oversee external routine preventive and crisis maintenance of analytical instrumentation and other processing equipment.

3. Other:

(One ); Carries out any other tasks commensurate with the jobholders status and as defined by the Pathologist.

(Two); Covers for other Laboratory technician in the same discipline, during absences caused by resignation, annual leave or sickness.

(Three); Takes part in the training and supervision of trainees and other member of staff.

Panel 1 (one)- (routine) glucose, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine, AST aspartate transferase, ALT alanine transferase, alkaline phosphatase, gamma glutamyl ransferase total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, total protein, albumin, potassium, chloride. Pane12 (two) - liver function tests - AST, ALT, ALP, TB, DB, GGT, TP, ALB. Panel 3 (three)- kidney function tests -- BUN, Creatinine. Pane14 (four)- Cardiac enzymes - LDH, CK, CKMB, AST, (SGOT).
