Tippin’s Pies Kansas City, Kansas 5/14/18 to 8/8/2018

At Tippin’s my duties were the maintenance of facilities and equipment in two buildings, the food plant and bakery. I had a staff of two mechanics with plans to add more. This was a very challenging environment with being understaffed and having two separate locations, we over came all emergencies and were not behind on PMs at the end of my employment. At Tippin’ s I was asked to get their first automated topping machine operational, when I left this machine was topping pies perfectly. The biggest challenge was the language barrier, most of the employees spoke only Spanish, including one of my maintenance team members.

I worked as a Maintenance supervisor for Caravan who was contracted to maintenance the GM Plant on Fairfax in Kansas. Working for Caravan as a Maintenance Supervisor presented a whole variety of challenges and learning opportunities. One of the first challenges was to supervise the Maintenance Department and the Sanitation Department simultaneously. Each department presented leadership and organization problems on a daily basis. I attended Nexstar service systems class, this improved my salesmanship. Being a service company was new to me but I increased customer base by uniting all departments to share leads. The biggest skill I learned at KB was customer care.
