200 hours of triage, gynecology, antepartum, postpartum, and primary care management of patients. Serving underserved and uninsured women and teenagers in Alameda County. Roughly half of the patients did not speak English, or spoke English as a second language. Many were new immigrants, DACA, or asylum refugees who had either never had gynecology visits or have had very little access to healthcare in their lifetimes. Preceptor Mindy Brown-Lechner, FNP, supervised as I independently saw patients for abnormal uterine bleeding, chronic pelvic pain, spontaneous and missed abortions, family planning, preconception care, the insertion and removal of IUDs and Nexplanons, and other women’s healthcare concerns. I shadowed a pelvic pain specialist, Dr. Falik, to expand my knowledge of and treatment plans for pelvic pain. Additionally, was able to watch outpatient minor surgical procedures such as dilation and curettages of missed abortions and a routine hysterectomy for uterine fibroids with Dr. Falik.

200 hours of gynecology, antepartum, postpartum, and primary care management of patients. Preceptors Melissa Hueberger, FNP, Kay Case OB/GYN, and Celina Sears, OB/GYN supervised insertion and removal of both IUDs and Nexplanons, paps, well-woman exams, problem visits, family planning counseling, preconception care, primary care visits, basic psychiatric visits and allowed me to assist with colposcopies and hysterosonograms. I also acquired basic ultrasound skills at this clinic. By the end of my clinical rotation I was seeing both MD and NP patients independently, charting and prescribing for them to the satisfaction of the Dr. Sears, Dr. Kay, and Melissa Hueberger, FNP.
