WORK EXPERIENCE

July 2014 – Present: Senior Laboratory Technologist II – Cellular Therapy Laboratory, American Red Cross, Philadelphia, PA. Joined as a Medical Laboratory Technician and later promoted as Lead Technologist and Technical Trainer.

Performed automated testing of donor blood samples for HIV, HTLV, HCV, HBC, HBsAg and Chagas using Abbott PRISM nEXT, West Nile Viruses and Ultrio (NAT - HIV, HCV & HBV) using Chiron TIGRIS, Antibody Screening and ABO/Rh identification using Immucor GALILEO, Hemoglobin S, Triglyceride and Counting Residual Leukocytes using manual method to assure the safety, potency and purity of the blood supply. Evaluated quality control within laboratory using standard laboratory test and measurement controls, and maintained compliance with CLIA, OSHA, safety and risk-management guidelines.

Sat in on standardization calls, verified TIPS and has been the primary contact for both IDL and IHL.

Participated in a LEAN project that involves the standardization of the training program for all of Biomedical Services

Volunteered to review the extensive System4 training documents to ensure accuracy before its implementation.

Volunteered to help the department to supervise night shift employees for 2 years, in the absence of a Supervisor.

Volunteered to maintain the NY State Continuing Education credits data for all staff members.

TECHNICAL TRAINING

Attended First Instructor training at Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, NY and Abbott Laboratories, TX for the Ortho Summit Processor and PRISM analyzers respectively. Responsible for training all testing staff in the Laboratory on both these equipment.

Problem Management training - identification and resolution of testing issues.

Biomedical Instructor training for the implementation of electronic Learning Management System.
