Software QA Test Engineer – Research & Development Group

Skills and Experience:

Member of a SW Test and Development Team doing functional test and validation for a SAS RAID Controller in a data storage technology that uses SCSI and Fibre Channel Protocols.

Responsible for a complete system setup by configuring the platform which include hands-on installation of the operating system. The system platform requirement could be a MicroSoft Window environment, a Linux - RedHat or Susie version, a VMWare vSphere, or a Solaris environment.

SAS controller is physically installed on a PCI Express Bus slot of an Enterprise Server and FW and device driver are installed to test and debug all the features and functionalities.

Software installation included are the array management application to be use for configuring and managing the disk array, software tools for testing data integrity thru fault injections while I/Os are ongoing, and software utilities for doing system upgrades and maintenance.

Knowlegeable with Storage Attached Network Architecture (SANs) by making the storage devices available to all servers through the network on a LAN or WAN (Local/Wide Area Network).

Familiarity with Cluster Configuration for High Data Availability (Fault Tolerant), a no single point of failure solution with a Node and Storage Controller Redundancy (Failover & Failback feature / Active Fails & Passive Kick-in and takes over).

Issues and defects found during test are logged into a defect tracking system called Rational Clear Quest, wherein a SW Developer is assigned to make a fix on the issue found in the code. As a result, a rolled up version is delivered for a retest and verification of the fix..

A Test Management System (TMS) Database contains our test cases depository along with current and previous system test results and log history.

Test & Evaluation Engineer

Skills and Experience:

Performed qualification testing for selecting third party products that are integrated into our overall system platforms.

Execute quality source Inspection assignment by doing a First Article Inspection (FAI) such as measuring the properties and geometry of an initial sample item against our given specifications in a drawing like positions, diameters and shapes of holes, weight, density, stiffness, color or surface finish.

Evaluate product sample of new generation disk drives and removable media devices provided by potential future vendors and suppliers like Seagate, Fujitsu, Hitachi, & Maxtor.

Test and verify their products conformity set by our engineering specifications, requirements and compatibility

by generating a test plans that outline all tests to be performed to draw a high level of confidence.

Performed product testing such as Physical Attributes, Basic Functionalities, Power and Voltage - current draw, voltage margins, supply failure, and a prolong consistent automated power cycling.

Performed a 4-Corner Operational & Track Squeeze Environmental Test to determine the Reliability of the product and setup thermal theoretical analysis, calculations and assessments according to the thermal construction of systems and components.

Setup a signal and thermal decay testing methods of the magnetic hard disk and an MTBF demonstration (Mean Time Before Failure).

Executed system Integration & Interfaces in final test that consists of Performance, I/O Benchmark and Diagnostics testing.
