My desired position is taking employment as a Family Nurse Practitioner in an acute care or clinical setting. I have served as a nurse for the last 23 years. I will provide care for pediatric, adults and geriatrics with health care needs. The training I received during my clinical rotations through Patty Hanks School of Nursing has prepared me for this new role as an F.N.P. Eager to take on this role and provide the community with my services.

Big Spring High School graduate: May of 1986.

License Vocational Nurse received August of 1996, Cisco Junior College of Abilene, Texas.

Associate Degree Nurse (Registered Nurse) December of 2002, Cisco Junior College of Abilene, Texas.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing received December of 2015, The Texas Tech University Health Science Center (TTUHSC), Lubbock, Texas

Master’s degree in Family Nurse Practitioner FNP, received August, 2018, Hardin Simmons University with Patty Hanks School of Nursing of Abilene, Texas.

Continued Clinical Rotations: (The last 2 years) FNP-PROGRAM

Emergency/Special Topics: Trauma center of Hendrick Health System, of Abilene, Texas. From March of 2018 to May of 2018 with Dolores Zertuche, RN MSN, FNP-C. Clinical rotation consisted of emergent family practice.

Geriatric/Special Topics: Dr. Ferral L. Endsley at Hendrick Rehabilitation, at Hendrick Health System in Abilene, Texas. From April of 2018 to July 2018. Hendrick Health System on October of 2017. Employed for Hendrick Health System for 21 years: from November of 1996 to October of 2017. Employed as a Health care provider (Registered Nurse). Last position at Hendrick was charge nurse for 31 bed unit.

Windcrest Alzheimer’s Unit from August of 2003 to September of 2009. My position with Windcrest was week-end house supervisor. Consisted of managing and foreseeing all patients and employees for a 120-bed facility.

Qualifications/skills:

My qualifications consist of Charging and/or supervising for health-care employees and chronic/ill/emergent patients. I have experience in working in the following areas as a registered nurse/charge nurse - Cardiac-telemetry (9 yrs. Experienced). Long-term care rehabilitation, Skilled Nursing, Nursing Home, Alzheimer, Orthopedics (21 yrs. Experience). Short-term medical-surgical, out-patient care, as well as inpatient-care, Urology-genitourinary surgical patients, (20 yrs. Experienced). Critical care services involve, Progressive Care Unit, Critical Care Unit-specializing in post-op heart-caths. (4 yrs. Experienced).

Mentor/Preceptor:

I have 19 years of experience in mentoring nursing students from Texas Tech university, Patty Hanks School of Nursing (Hardin Simmons University & McMurry University), Cisco Junior College. I have precepted Hendrick Health System Nurses for 18 years. I have trained newly hired nurses through the education department at Hendrick Health system. I also served as a Diabetic educator for my unit.

Community Volunteer:

I currently volunteer to deliver meals for the elderly in the Abilene Community. I serve and enjoy delivering meals for our local program: Meals on wheels. I deliver approximately 15-25 meals per week.
