QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY

Over Sixteen years of progressively laboratory and pilot plant experience testing FCC (fluid catalytic cracking) catalyst and specialty catalyst for plastic Industry. Highly motivated individual, able to adapt to different situations and cultures. Reputation as a multitasked goal-oriented worker with the ability to deliver results on time with minimal supervision. Performed troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on units. Excelled in training new members on different types of units and catalyst’s basics.MS word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, LIMS and Lotus Notes.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Developed a P&ID and built an entire unit to test specialty catalyst. Performed laboratory evaluations to develop and commercialize new FCC catalyst technology to improve profitability in worldwide FCC operations. Developed and implemented a troubleshooting guide to detect and solve problems. Involved in the start-up of several deactivation units. Set up a four-tank system to deliver water for each individual reactor, when previously there was just one water tank for four reactors improving accuracy.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

May/2017-Present Sabic Americas - Laboratory Technician Supervisor: Edouard Mamedov 281-***-****

Built, troubleshoot and maintained a lab-scale reactor unit. Operated reactor unit for evaluating catalyst behavior on daily basis. Knowledge of fundamentals and capabilities of various analytical techniques, in particular gas and liquid chromatography. Developed a P&ID for a lab-scale reactor unit.

Dec/2004-Jan/2014 Albemarle - Assistant Chemist II Supervisor: Chantal Reynaud 281-***-****

Deactivated catalysts in lab scale reactors to obtain e-cats (equilibrium catalysts). Performed cracking reactions with e-cats and crude oil from various refineries and analyzed yields in GC’s. Solved problems with catalyst performance for customers using their same e-cats and crude oil in deactivation units by analyzing yields in GC’s. Calibrated and performed general maintenance in GC’s. Trained in Amsterdam, Holland in the latest catalysts deactivation technology. Prepared/Analyzed samples by volumetric and gravimetric wet chemistry techniques. Utilized Beckman 8.1 LIMS to schedule, record, calculate, and store data. Entered technical data in Statistical Process Control charts. Responsible for reviewing SOP’s, protocols, and final reports. Troubleshot all equipment on mechanical/electrical issues.

Aug/2000-Dec/2004 Akzo Nobel - Laboratory Analyst Supervisor: Jorge Gonzalez 281-***-****

Operated test units to analyze catalysts characteristics from various refineries including desulfurization, olefinicity, and catalyst activity. Delivered a consistent one-day turn around for customer analysis of equilibrium catalyst program. Performed density separations methods.

Mar/2000-Sep/2000 HCET - Process Engineer Supervisor: Rajiv Sharavastaba 305-***-****

Developed models to transport lab made fake radioactive materials to a treatment plant at laboratory bench scale. Studied physical and chemicals properties of radioactive materials to make our own slurry. Constructed flow loops using tubing, fittings, pumps, and tanks.

Responsible for maintaining laboratory/research notes, technical reports, notebooks, graphs, plots and analytical data. Worked with various lab equipment such as Rheometers, Density meters, Viscometers, Tritator, etc.

May/1998-Mar/2000 Akzo Nobel - Laboratory Analyst Supervisor: Jorge Gonzales 281-***-****

Tested FCC catalyst in pilot scale steamers. Qualified physical properties of catalysts from the steamers by measuring surface area of zeolite and matrix.
