• Used mass balances and reaction kinetics in Matlab to simulate the preliminary design of higher- order alcohol production, and used HYSYS to determine the optimal conditions of proposed design.

• Applied pressure swing to separate the azeotrope between bioethanol and butyraldehyde in distillation system design.

• Used reaction kinetics of Packed Bed Reactor and mass balances in Matlab to simulate the production of starting material (2,6-xylenol) for polyphenylene oxide (PPO).

• Used process control to monitor and adjust the physical conditions based on simulation results, and applied heat transfer to accomplish heat integration for the proposed design.
