Computer Operating Systems
The characteristics and design of multiple operation systems, where serial and parallel processes are presented. Deadlock detection, prevention and avoidance. Long and short term scheduling, memory management, executive multiprogramming and multiprocessor systems.
Engineering Computer Applications
The formulation and solution of engineering problems by utilizing computers. Development of structured coding programs to solve engineering problems using a compiled language. Use of mathematical computer packages to solve engineering problems.
Principles of Database Systems
The course provides a great background in the theory, design, and programming of database systems, with a focus on relational databases. An in-depth coverage on SQL is presented. Other database topics include storage and indexing techniques, transaction management, and database interface with application programs.
