ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Senior Design II Project, Chemical Engineering Department, UIC- Chicago, IL Spring 2018
Collaborate with a team of four towards designing a plant that produces Methylene Diphenyl Diisocyanate (MDI) without the use of phosgene.
Researched the costs of our process for different regions specifically parts of the middle east.
Investigate different catalyst that can achieve better conversion rate and reduce utility cost.
Utilize Aspen Plus to design and simulate the process.
Determined the utility costs, mass balances and equipment size with the use of Aspen Plus/Excel.
Designed a piping and instrumentation diagram using Visio for safety
Implement controls for the process to achieve high quality product and safety.
Present design process and economic analysis at the annual UIC Senior Design Expo of April 2018
