In conclusion, the findings of this study indicate NP students have a desire for residency and believe it will help in NP recruitment, retention, patient outcomes, and safety. The data reflects a split of whether a residency would be costly to the employer, however the majority felt the employer should bear the financial burden. This study adds to the existing literature in support of a post graduate residency or fellowship experience to assist new graduates in their transition to practice.
