Visual C++, Visual C#, Visual Basic programmer for a Microsoft-based Retail Point-Of-Sale application. Developed back office routines such as reports and database updates. Developed POS routines including coupons, taxes, database lookups, payroll, et cetera. Interfaced with customers to help develop new applications, wrote functional specs and design documents. Maintained build tools. Performed builds using Microsoft MSI and Install Shield. Served as project manager, project lead, trained off shore developers. When not developing new features, worked as a quality tester, code reviewer and bug fixer.
1990 – 2005
C++ programmer for Object Oriented POS product developed in England. Modified the product for North American applications; this work included designing and implementing new objects, using derived objects, overloading, and inheritance to maintain both the base European product and several US-based variants. Development was OS/2 using Microsoft C6 compiler with a C++ preprocessor. Developed back office applications using Progress database language. Trained new hires and performed on-site calls to customers.
1979 - 1990
Assembly (IMP 16) programmer for a real time POS system. Developed device drivers, communications, task management, buffer handling, interrupt handling, tools, and applications. Primary responsibilities included design and development of POS and Back Office code. Served as Tool Group Manager for 3 years and Manager of Software Quality responsible for testing all products.
