OBJECTIVES: To design lighting, power, telecommunications and security systems for new, renovated or remodel government buildings, facilities, high rises, schools and residential buildings in accordance with all applicable codes such as National Electrical Code (NEC), International Building Code (IBC), International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), NFPA Standards, GSA Standards (P-100 Design Guideline) as well as (AHJ) local authority having jurisdiction. United States Air force Base, (AFCEC) Hanger Fire Evaluation.

US Air force retained URS to perform facility condition assessment of all aircraft hangers all over the world to determine reason for the false activation of the fire suppression system inside the aircraft hangers. The scope of work includes documentation of all fire suppression and electrical systems within the aircraft hangers and adjoining buildings. Produce new construction document per NEC, UFC, and Air force Standards. Site visited are Andrews AFB, MD., Dover AFB, DE., Cannon AFB, NM., JAB AK., King Salmon AFB AK, Shemya Island AFB, AK and Thule AFB in Greenland. Date: 07/2014 - 11/2014

Veteran Administration Hospital, State of Pennsylvania. VISN 4

Facility Condition Assessment.

VA Administration retained URS to perform facility condition assessment at all twelve (12) VA hospital sites in the state of Pennsylvania. The scope of work includes surveying all electrical and telecommunication systems, reviewing existing as-built construction documents and cost estimating for all deficiencies observed. Date: 2013-2014

Architect of the Capitol, Washington D.C.

URS was the designer of record for various office building renovations on Capitol Hill. The scope of the electrical system work included upgrading power distribution systems, designing new lighting at the garage of the Longworth office building, new lighting at Cannon office building, Cafeteria/ Kitchen upgrade at James Madison and Rayburn office buildings. Most projects required renovation/modification of existing systems while other projects focused on replacement/upgrade of the existing systems to bring them up to current national and local building codes as well as AOC design standards. Date: 07/2007

Various Renovation Projects for Smithsonian Institute, Washington D.C.

URS was the designer of record for various renovations and power upgrade at Smithsonian Institute. Projects include replacement of the Switchgear project at the mall site as well as roof replacement / upgrading lightning protection at the NMAI (National Museum of the American Indian) located in Suitland MD. The scope of the electrical work at the NMAI was upgrading the existing facility lightning protection to meet NFPA 780 standards and recertification.

Armed Forces Retired Home (AFRH), Gulfport, Mississippi.

Electrical and telecommunications design engineer for the new $300 million dollars Armed Forces Retirement Home – Gulfport, Mississippi.

URS, in association with Yates Construction, was retained to design and construct the new 660,000 square foot retirement home facility on the existing site of approximately 47 acres. The facility will accommodate 584 residents, secured parking garage for approximately 400 vehicles, and support facilities.

The electrical and telecommunication engineering design services related to this project includes layout of the power and telecommunications distribution systems. Emergency power service was designed to provide emergency power for seven continuous days.

The project also includes reviewing architectural plans, design guidelines using International Building Code, International Electrical Code, NFPA Standards, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and GSA Standards (P-100 Design Guideline). Date: 7/2007 – 12/2012

Ministry Of Public Health (MOPH), Kabul, Afghanistan.

Electrical and telecommunication design engineer for the new $50 million dollars campus-like office complex. Date: 06/2009 – 12/2010

U.S. Pentagon, Lower Level Renovation, Arlington, Virginia.

Conducted extensive field survey work of the existing site conditions, and designed new utility tunnels and trenches to service 14 new mechanical rooms. National Archives Building, Washington, DC.

Electrical designer for the new lighting and power system as part of the complete renovation of the historic 1,400,000 sq ft National Archives Building on Pennsylvania Avenue. The building was originally opened in 1935, and the electrical systems, as well as other building systems, were deteriorated and in need of replacement. Date: 11/2010

Renovation of the U.S. Patent Office Building, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC.

Electrical designer for a major renovation of the 800,000 sq ft historic landmark building, long considered one of America’s most important examples of Greek revival architecture. New mechanical systems were designed to fit within the existing architectural context and respect the building’s historic fabric. Date: 12/2011

Renovation of Main Treasury Building, Washington, DC.

Electrical designer for the modernization of the 502,000 sq ft Main Treasury Building occupying a site adjacent to the White House at 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.

Nextel Communications, A/E and Construction Management Services for 2,500 ESMR Sites, Washington / Baltimore Metropolitan Area.

Design engineer responsible for power and telephone systems for sites including raw land, rooftops, stealth and co-locates.

Sprint PCS, A/E Services for the Build out of 50 PCS Sites, Washington / Baltimore Metropolitan Area. Sites including rooftops, raw land, monopoles / towers and water tanks. Balloon tests and photo simulations have been performed in addition to designing the sites to allow for future expansion.
